About this property

Number 21 - Lovely cottage with stunning sea views in sought after town

NUMBER 21, ST JUST
Tucked away in the quirky and historical town of St just is the delightful Number 21. A lovingly restored cottage perfect for a family staycation or couple’s retreat. With plenty of character and local artwork, the interiors of this charming home reflect the calming surrounds of the countryside and sea beyond.

The house has been painstakingly and thoughtfully refurbished to incorporate modern comfort with environmentally friendly materials. Much of the house still retains core elements from the 1800s and local builders worked closely to maintain the original exterior granite walls as well as the beams and fireplace that can now be seen in the front room.

This comfortable cottage is perfectly situated down a quiet lane, so you can enjoy the best of both worlds: the peacefulness of a country cottage whilst only being a few minutes’ walk from St Just and all it has to offer.

LOCATION
The whole town of St Just is a UNESCO world heritage site and surrounded by wild moors and dramatic coastline. If feeling energetic try exploring the stunning Tinner’s Way running along the coast from Cape Cornwall all the way to St Ives. It’s an ancient route from the Bronze age and where the tin and copper ore were transported along the way from St Just to Hayle.

St Just is a friendly town that feels lost in time with an array of great local shops, a deli, a butcher, four pubs and a small local supermarket for your everyday needs. Surrounding the town are the most spectacular stretches of coastline and fantastic walks from the doorstep. Sennen with its glorious surfing beach is ten minutes away as is Potheras, a hidden and stunning local’s cove. Travelling further east within twenty minutes you can be in Marazion with its fabulous beach overlooking the famous St Michaels Mount, St Ives, Mousehole and Penzance.

LIVING
Enjoy the luxury of space, from this living room and separate snug. With plenty of natural light, views and local artwork, it’s the perfect space for sitting back on one of the cosy, cushiony sofas and cuddling up in front of the wood burner and unwinding.

There are two separate living spaces both tastefully decorated with a refreshing colour palette of neutral greens, blues and creams. There’s a Smart TV (no terrestrial aerial so live TV can be watched using the relevant channel apps) in one room for relaxing in front of a film, whilst the other has a cosy wood burner and makes for a great space to get everyone together for a board game.

COOKING & EATING
The kitchen is a true culmination of Cornish design and modern-day style and ease. It still retains a traditional cottage feel with its slate flooring that is balanced out by all of the modern amenities. The kitchen has been well-equipped with everything needed to cook up a storm. There’s a fridge/freezer, electric hob and extractor as well as a nutri-bullet and blender. Gather the family or group together around the dining table or on warmer evenings take it al fresco and make the most of the Cornish sunshine.

SLEEPING
Every room at Number 21 has been thoughtfully designed with relaxation and comfort in mind. Both double rooms have amazing views of the countryside from their sumptuous beds and with plenty of space for clothes. The walls have been decorated with local artwork by Marianne Nicholls, reflecting the landscape and the heritage of the area. The single bedroom at the back of the house is a cute yet spacious room with plenty of natural light beaming in from the Velux. This is the ideal space for a little one with its gorgeous vintage chaise lounge, book shelves, chest of drawers and mini window ledge seat perfect for reading a book or watching the world go by in the garden.

BATHING
Tastefully decorated with a selection of neutral tones, the family bathroom is a peaceful space for a relaxing shower after a day of exploring. With plenty of natural light coming from the windows it is a real refreshing space to be in. There’s a great overhead walk-in shower, WC, heated towel rail and hand wash basin. There is also a simple WC downstairs just off the kitchen.

UTILITY AREA
There’s a utility unit at the end of the kitchen and has a washing machine, iron and ironing board, as well as some additional storage space and a few extra kitchen amenities.

OUTSIDE
The door in the kitchen leads you out into the private garden. In the morning make the most of the sunshine with breakfast al fresco on the table and chairs. There's rear access form the lane and a hose for washing down sandy toes and muddy paws! An outside cupboard is perfect for storing beach gear. There’s also the stunning front garden with views of the sea and being Westerly facing its perfect for watching the sun set.

USEFUL TO KNOW...
PARKING: There is a parking space by the garage on the rear access lane. Its tight, so not for the faint hearted and not suitable for anything larger than a Golf type car. Always check first to ensure your confident driving down the lane. If not, don't worry there's plenty of free parking in St Just and the town's free main car park is only a few minutes’ walk away.

WI-FI: Number 21 has free Wi-Fi, you won’t get superfast anywhere this far west, but it’s perfect for surfing the web, catching up on social media or checking emails.

HEATING: Electric radiators and a cosy wood burner in the living room.

PETS: Far West Cornwall is doggie heaven! There’s plenty of beaches and coast paths for exploring. One well-behaved dog is welcome at £35 per week/short break. Please make sure they stay out of bedrooms and off the furniture and that you rub down muddy/sandy feet before they come in. The back garden is secure.

LINEN & TOWELS: You'll have bedding & towels but please bring your own beach towels.

ACCESSIBILITY: Typical of Cornish cottages there are very narrow, steep stairs up to the first floor. This means it's unlikely to be suitable for those with limited mobility or young children. A stairgate is supplied which can be used to cordon off the back single bedroom but not the two front doubles which lead directly out to the staircase. Always contact us prior to booking if you have any questions or concerns on accessibility.

This property is not wheelchair friendly and may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. If this applies, please contact our booking office to discuss the properties potential suitability prior to confirming.

CHANGEOVER & SHORT BREAKS: Changeover is usually Friday. 'Just for Two' discounts available out of season. Do check with us if your dates don’t quite fit as we will always try to help.
