About this property

Stunning Fisherman's Cottage with Log Burner

☆NEW LISTING☆ Welcome to Hope Cottage, a classic fisherman’s cottage built in the 1850s in the heart of Brixham just minutes from the waters edge and situated in the highly sought-after harbour bowl. The cottage benefits from two living rooms to relax in after a long day exploring the beautiful town of Brixham. Hope Cottage also has an outside courtyard with dining table and chairs as well as a newly installed log burner. Sleeps up to 6 people (maximum of 4 adults). Central Brixham location.

The Space
Greeting you at the door is a beautiful stable door - a popular feature in this part of Brixham. Once inside you’re greeted by a cosy living room (one of two inside the cottage) which includes a beautiful log burner for guests to enjoy over a glass of wine with your feet up. Next door is a second lounge area with seating for up to 6 people, TV and coffee table, with a stunning alcove area at the back which has a dining table and seating for 6 people.

The well-equipped galley kitchen has everything you need to prepare for your meals with family and friends. Brixham is also a food lovers' paradise, and you will be spoilt for choice for places to eat out from morning to night. Start your day off with a short saunter down to Brixham’s artisan quarter, “Middle Street”, brimming with independent coffee shops, artisan bakeries and cafés, then browse among the creative retailers including some of the town’s artists and photographers. For culinary enthusiasts, why not pick up some fresh fish straight off one of the local day boats to prepare back in the cottage and then enjoy an after-dinner drink in the courtyard garden which can be accessed from the kitchen.

Upstairs on the first floor are two bedrooms all of which have been lovingly restored, including the addition of some fabulous window shutters in every room and restoration to the original wooden floors. Stairs lead up to the top floor to the cottage which includes a recently installed modern bathroom and 3rd bedroom featuring twin beds. New carpets added to the cottage in September 2022 throughout the stairs and landing areas for additional comfort.

Hope Cottage is situated in the heart of Brixham and is close to all the town’s amenities and the very popular Middle Street. Hope Cottage makes a fantastic base for exploring Brixham and the South Devon coastline.

Host profile image
Saltwater Escapes is a family run business offering beautiful holiday homes along the South Devon coast.

Saltwater Escapes was started by husband and wife team Jamie and Kate. Born and raised in Brixham, Jamie spent his childhood on the local beaches and enjoyed the many outdoor pursuits Devon offers .  Kate's early childhood years were also spent by the sea in North Berwick, Scotland. Later moving to rural Berkshire, Kate enjoyed much freedom outdoors in the surrounding countryside. They have subsequently had two children of their own and hope to instil in them the same love for the outdoors, a sense of adventure, and the importance of quality time together.

Regularly taking their children back down to Devon, their treasured escapes from their busy pace of life and enjoying old fashioned fun have become a family tradition. A time to switch off and relax, to get back to nature, to try something new, explore somewhere different, and most importantly to make treasured memories.

From the moment you arrive at a Saltwater Escapes property we aim to give you a warm welcome starting with complimentary welcome provisions with a few essentials and some local goodies too! All properties offer fantastic access to the towns treasure's including the many cafés and restaurants, the beaches and of course the beautiful sea. Our team of Housekeepers and Property Managers are all local should you need to call for any assistance with anything.

We love that Saltwater Escapes' properties have become a home from home for many of our customers who have stayed with us year after year and are making traditions of their own and memories to treasure.
