Thetford Forest, Britain's largest lowland pine forest, is just outside of town and home to a nature reserve and the Peddars Way National Trail. Excellent trails for all abilities can be found at High Lodge Forest Centre, making it a great destination for families, walkers, and cyclists. The kids will especially love the Squirrel Maze. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try out Go Trax or the Go Ape high ropes course, or you can simply unwind in the café and gift shop. Lynford Arboretum and Lakes is a fantastic destination throughout the year. The Grimes Grave Flint Mines and the Iceni settlement of Cockley Cley are located further afield.
