About the host

My family and I currently live in Oxfordshire albeit spend as many holidays as possible in Cornwall. My husband’s family are Cornish and we have traced their family history living in Cornwall back to 1556 (so far)! We look forward to spending a lot more time in Cornwall when we retire and we’d love to share our beautiful house with others for a luxurious and relaxing holiday – enjoy!
Why they chose this property
Hillcote is just a short walk from the centre of Wadebridge, a vibrant town that is located on the tidal River Camel. There’s plenty for the whole family to do in Wadebridge with many independent shops, a cinema, parks, playgrounds, leisure centre with swimming pool, tennis courts, football pitches, cricket ground, green bowls and a large selection of coffee shops and restaurants.
Wadebridge is an ideal base to explore North Cornwall and is in easy reach of popular destinations such as Rock, Polzeath, Port Isaac, Trevone, Padstow, Newquay and Bodmin Moor. A short drive from Hillcote will take you to some of the best bathing beaches in the county such as Trevone, Daymer Bay, Constantine Bay, Harlyn and Trebarwith Strand.
There are plenty of local attractions for families to enjoy on both sunny and rainier days such as Newquay Zoo and Newquay Blue Reef Aquarium, Camel Creek Adventure Park, Bodmin and Wenford Railway, Lanhydrock National Trust estate, Cardinham Woods, The National lobster hatchery at Padstow, Kidzworld Cornwall and many more.
Hillcote is also the perfect base to hire bicycles, or walk the fabulous Camel Trail, which takes the route of the old railway line that runs from Bodmin to Padstow. If you want to bring your own bikes, there's plenty of storage space.
What makes this property unique
We hope you get the opportunity to stay in this very special house.
Hillcote is a stunning example of beautiful Edwardian architecture. During 2022, Hillcote was renovated and refurbished, with the vision of creating luxurious, beautiful yet practical holiday accommodation that exquisitely balances traditional and modern styles.
The development and design of Hillcote was based on three core values:
Family friendly
Meeting guests’ needs
Sustainability
The careful planning of the interior design and the meticulous sourcing of furnishings and fittings that were in keeping with the history, style and architecture of Hillcote and key sustainability criteria took nearly a year to complete.
Our guests’ needs have been carefully considered when planning the design, layout and functionality of all the spaces at Hillcote, both indoors and outdoors to ensure that you indulge in all of the wonderful and luxurious things that Hillcote has to offer. We’re confident that once you’ve experienced Hillcote, you’ll want to come back to enjoy this special house year after year.
