The BARKA Foundation
BARKA is a non-profit organization that is technically the owner of the Bunkhouse. Therefore when you pay rent, you're helping to fund clean water and women's empowerment projects in Burkina Faso, a small landlocked nation in West Africa. Your hosts, Ina & Esu Anahata co-founded BARKA in 2006 and operate it from their home next door to the bunkhouse in Maine. The bunkhouse is also used to house volunteers who come and work for the organization. Information about BARKA's work is available in the bunkhouse. Let us know if you're interested in getting involved!
About Ina & Esu, BARKA's Co-Founders
Ina is available for sound healing sessions for individuals or groups ($100 per session) and Esu will cook a gourmet meal with fresh local ingredients for your group (prices and menu to be determined ahead of time).

Why they chose this property
We live on the 5th cleanest lake in Maine according the forestry service. W are located in Unorganized Territory, in what we refer to as Shangri-La. Wake up and enjoy coffee on the outdoor deck overlooking the water. A perfect place for couples, families, or individuals looking to relax and enjoy the serenity of Nature.
