What makes this property unique
Punta Ciriga or Cirica is a portion of beach located east of Santa Maria del Focallo. It is characterised by small coves protected by a white tuff cliff. Distinctive features of this portion of the sea are the small stacks, two characteristic islets that, with their sheer vertical walls, reach a height of 15 metres.
Porto Ulisse is a wide sandy beach that all the sources from the Roman period, from Cicero to Pliny, call with different variants, Odysseae Portus, Ulysses port. It seems, in fact, that it was here that Ulysses arrived on his long voyage home and had a temple dedicated to Athena built.
During the Arab period, this place changed its name: 'port' was translated into Arabic 'marsa' and this toponym was Sicilianised into Marza and still characterises the entire hinterland today.
There is a monument in memory of the landing in Sicily during the Second World War, the so-called Operation Husky. It was the night between 9 and 10 July 1943 when British and Canadian troops landed.
