About the host
Hosted by Cheryl Byrd
I am a mother of 3 grown children, a cook, pastry chef, gardener and exceptional host. I get the most satisfaction in life by nourishing and caring for those around me, and that includes my guests! Born and raised in the US to an Ecuadorian mother, when young I traveled many times to Ecuador to visit and I have extensive family and friends here. This is now my home. In 2011, I moved here with my husband (an ex software executive from Baltimore) searching for health, good food, travel, opportunity, adventure and a farm to grow our own organic food! Once here we also decided to develop a home in Quito for ourselves, family and friends Our dreams have been realized as we have our beautiful home in Quito and have purchased a large tract of land, 140 acres and 1.5 miles of riverfront, near the international Ecotourism destination, Mindo Ecuador. We are in the process of developing an organic farm while restoring and regenerating the landscape. Working alongside the forces of nature, we aim to create a landscape which yields a healthy bounty for man and beast, while at the same time supports the region's unique Choco-Andean biodiversity.
Why they chose this property
Peace, Serenity, intense nature, natural gravity fed spring water, river, birds, off the grid. Good old fashioned country living. Remember the good ole days?
What makes this property unique
This cabin is one of a kind, hand built by the owners, everything on the property was designed and built by the owners, from the roads to the terraces, ponds, water systems, power systems.
This is a totally authentic experience that can't be recreated or duplicated. The owners are totally involved, we cook, serve and serve as tour guides. We are homesteaders in the Andean mountains and would love to share our paradise with you!
