About this property

Hillcrest Cottage - Sunny & Stylish near Kingston

Summary:
Hillcrest Cottage is a quaint and stylish escape in the heart of the Catskills, located 2 hours from NYC, just outside Kingston.

Set on half an acre, the house has 3 BRs (+ a day bed) and 2 full baths. The house features a BBQ, and firepit. The city of Kingston is 10 minutes away and the house is central to exploring other great areas like Minnewaska, Mohonk and more!

Enjoy a stylish experience at this centrally-located cape-style cottage!

The Space:
Hillcrest Cottage enjoys the benefits of both rural tranquility, having an organic fruit farm as its adjacent neighbor, and the charms of a leafy neighborhood along the quiet road. This newly renovated Cape-style home is just steps away from the Hurley Rail Trail, a go-to destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

Gather in the open living space beside a large picture window that overlooks the beauty of the Catskills. With enough seating for all, this is the place to Netflix and chill, get lost in a book, or have a nightcap.

The chef’s kitchen boasts a farmhouse sink, 5-burner gas stove and an island with seating for two to take in the expansive mountain views. Just off the kitchen is the home office, if you must. On the other side of the office is the ground floor bedroom. This sunlight-filled room features some of the best views in the house, with windows on three sides and direct access to the backyard. There is also a first-floor bathroom with a tub-shower.

Upstairs are two bedrooms with bucolic views out over the neighboring fields. The primary king-size bedroom is light and airy with a seating area. Between the two bedrooms is a shared full bathroom with dramatic navy tiling in the tub-shower and modern fixtures. The second bedroom features a queen-sized bed with an additional daybed and a designated workspace looking out over the yard.

In warmer weather, throw open the garage doors and enjoy the farmland views from the lounge. Also on this level is a modern laundry room.

For those warmer days, you’ll want to head out to the backyard to take in all the lounging possibilities. The dining table with enough room for all. After dinner drinks and marshmallows are best enjoyed the Upstate way, by the firepit surrounded by lounge seating, an idyllic spot to enjoy the great outdoors.

All of this couldn’t be set in a more central location. Set off the Route 209 corridor, Hurley is the ideal location with easy access to Kingston and Stone Ridge, both just 10 minutes away.

The Neighborhood:
Hillcrest Cottage, located in the heart of the Catskills, is just outside the city of Kingston in the Hamlet of Hurley. Kingston has lots of explore-worthy spots. Explore the Rondout neighborhood and grab a coffee and baked goods at Rosies General or sip on wine at Brunettes. In Midtown, don't miss out on Sonder for vegetarian fare. In Uptown, Lola Pizza, Rough Draft Bar & Books, and Kingston Bread + Bar. Hutton Brickyards is another great place for riverside cocktails. The trails at Minnewaska and Mohonk are also just 15-20 minutes away! We have a local guide on Red Cottage Inc's website where we help you get the most out of your stay at Hillcrest Cottage.

Getting Around:
Hillcrest Cottage is less than two hours from New York City, and while you'll definitely want a car to get there and around the area, there is also a bus to the city from Kingston, about 10 minutes away. In the winter, we recommend a car with four-wheel drive that can handle the snow and gravel roads. There is plenty of parking on the premises.
