About the host
Hosted by Brittany Bergman
Though I taught elementary music in a small school district in Western Pennsylvania, I am so glad to have returned to Williamsport just 3 miles from where I grew up. I am now a stay at home mom (though I teach toddler music classes locally) and I thoroughly enjoy hosting guests at the boathouse. I learned to help people feel right at home from the best teacher (my mother) and it brings me joy to hear that guests have had a wonderfully relaxing and restorative stay at our property.
Why they chose this property
My husband and I wanted our children to grow up in nature, learning to cultivate the land, be mindful, cherishing and taking care of the earth, near grandparents and family, and near many opportunities. This was a tall order to fill and we are so grateful to have found this beautiful place to call home. We immediately knew this was the land we had been searching for after many years searching. We became the owners in July of 2023 and swiftly began restoring the land to it’s original beauty.
What makes this property unique
The Boathouse is actually just that a “house for a boat”. It was built in 1991, directly on top of the water of a 3-acre pond, and it is quite mesmerizing to look out the window and see water. Because of the woods, creek, and pond we have abundant wildlife, some being rare finds like the Blue and Green Heron. I grew up 3 miles from here and I never saw some of the dragonflies or species of birds that frequent here. There are trails for hiking around the 17 acre property and most of the time it is right beside the pond, creek, or near the spillway offering a tranquil soundscape of water. There are plenty of hiking destinations within driving distance as well. Finally, though we are out in the country, it is just a 12 minute drive to the heart of downtown Williamsport.
