Inside the unit everything was dated and needed a lot of maintenance. We read these reviews b4 and can confirm their are accurate. I took pictures but this system does not allow us to post them. The unit was not clean inside, there was soap scum all over the shower and glass door, and sinks. The light fixtures in the bathrooms were all rusted! The wooden town handers all worn down and starting to rot. The common areas were very well maintained and clean, but they have not performed maintenance in the units. Like ever.

Family trip

Location was great, mins from harbour for snorkelling trips and 15 mins away from downtown. Be careful AC. Ot included in units an extra fee of 50$ per day for using them. That was not mentioned on website while booking and i fell is exaggerated and unnecessary

Room was not overly clean, we did not get our mid stay clean even after we asked. We had an issue in the room which was not resolved during out 2 week stay, only after 12 days we were informed a part was ordered. Replied to a survey from Kanaloa which we started our concerns and we have yet to receive any feedback 2 weeks later. Overall after our 5th visit to Kanaloa, we were somewhat unimpressed. On a positive note the view and location are excellent.

Unit #901

We stayed in Unit 901 we paid the extra and got the air conditioning. Unit and resort itself is nice but the pull out sofa is hard. The unit had some beach chairs and a cooler which was nice. Security is really strict about shutting down the pool right at 10 pm and the noise curfew. I liked the location of the resort as it’s kinda in the middle of the island so makes it a bit easier to tour the Island. Overall I was happy with the unit!

Big Island Blast!!

We had everything we needed...and more!!! Very clean..we ate most of our meals there and were thankful for all the amenities... blender for smoothies, beach chairs, cooler, washer dryer. The view from our condo was amazing!!! Both ocean and golf course.. the security man made his rounds each evening, whilst we played crib on the lanai.. this also made us feel safe!

The unit was older and could use some updating. There were at least 3 light fixtures where the bulbs were burnt out. The property was very nice, the pools were beautiful - loved the oceanside pool. We checked out and then were allowed to stay at the pool until our flight that evening. It was a great place to spend our last day!

Very Satisfied

The thing I love about Kanaloa is the size of the units, easily roomy enough for 2 couples or a family. The grounds are lovely and always well maintained. There are 3 pools to choose from as well as tennis courts and a ping pong table. The area is great, a shopping center nearby ( 10 min.walk), good local restaurants and a paddling club that welcomes guests if you want to het out on the water. I would recommend Kanaloa as a comfortable stay and good value for your money

It's one of the top resorts in Hawaii. The regular, bland hotel room is replaced by a full sized apartment suite with everything you need to make a home away from home. Less appealing is the lack of 24 hrs. office attendance. I'm not going to get into the unpleasant encounter with the security guy supposed to accomodate us, because i've already described into a previous review

Nice place in a good location. Several pools to choose from. Good access to towns, beaches, etc. The unit itself was ok. In need of a bit of an update. There was a silk flower arrangement with mold on it which is not surprising because it is so humid by the water but still gross. We put it out on the lanai. Lots of water marks in our "clean" unit on the taps, Shower doors, etc. Location is the selling feature of this property built on the lava rock by the edge of the ocean. Great place to watch the waves crash. You will need a car, as there is not much walkable from this location. Good snorkeling nearby.

Kanaloa at Kona by Castle, Keauhou Hawaii

Stayed in Unit 2105 for 2 weeks with family of 6 from 8-59 years & really enjoyed it. All staff including grounds keepers & concierge were great. Bobbie K., manager for maintenance was fantastic! Resort is well kept & quiet. Extra fees for air conditioning, cleaning, etc. ARE noted on Expedia & confirmation so no surprise if you read the details. Different blinds would be great & a window to close in the opening between master bedroom & lower living area for privacy. Very spacious. Having a full kitchen & washer/dryer are a must for long stays. Great having a book exchange both in the room & in the reception building. Pools & BBQs also nice - grandson loved having a choice of pools! Great walks to the blow hole at the end of the golf course, along the lava shore, over to the Sheraton where there are a lot of historical sites & Keauhou Bay with lots of sea life to observe, kayak rental, excursions, etc. Saw humpbacks from our lanai & lots of birds always singing. Lovely sunrises from the bedrooms & sunsets from the living room & lanai. Air conditioning was not needed. Overhead & stand fans plus closing blinds as needed kept heat controlled. Having a car in order to visit places on the island is a necessity no matter where you stay unless you want to take tours but they don't go everywhere, i.e beaches!Shopping centre within walking distance has everything you may need. Outdoor markets are close by & on various days. We would definitely stay here again. Mahalo to all staff!
