I don't often review places on booking sites because I'm a professional travel writer, but I'm making an exception with Island Inn. What you get for what you pay is outstanding. The peaceful sand-and-shell beach, spectacular sunsets, the playful porpoises, kayaks, and my screened in patio with walk-out direct to all this was a joy. The dinner at the resort's Italian restaurant was an exceptional surprise (and boasted a character-loaded staff and pianist) - but then, also, in my room, having a kitchen with full-sized appliances was an added bonus. I only stayed two nights but wish I'd booked more. Something about the entire experience made me feel like I'd gone back in time to resorts of a bygone era - in a most delightful way. I'll be back.

Great hotel that still has that family feel. They staff are all very proud to work there and it shows - everyone is friendly, attentive and helpful We had a cottage and it was amazing - there were just the two of us so it was more than we needed but all the extra space was really nice.

The Island Inn was a very quality Hotel, we had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed our 2 night stay. We rented bikes and rode to a lot of different things. The room had a view of the Gulf and it was a short walk to the beach. The room was very nice and clean and we had great access to the beach. The only problem was the bed was not what we were use to and had a very difficult time sleeping. It was extremely hard and the pillows were very uncomfortable. The location was good and it was a short ride to lots of things. The front desk were very helpful with any questions that we had.

Great shelling & sunsets- right on the beach

Wished we had more time there. The Inn is a wonderful place with special extras. The continental breakfast included with your room is very good. We also signed up for the Shelling talk and walk done by a marine biologist from the National Shell Musuem - thanks Stephanie. There is a wonderful deck to watch the sunset. Everyone brought their own wine, cheese and crackers. The hotel is extremely clean and our only comment is that the smell of the strong soap cleaners and the soap to clean the sheets is extremely strong. If that could be toned down, it would be better. We had strong allergy reactions. Staff were all great with above and beyond service when they called us about an clothing item left in our room after we checked out. I have never had that experience with a hotel before.

Wonderful stay....and dolphins!!!

Wonderful, relaxing time...breakfast crew were super friendly and front desk was great too! Water a bit choppy due to Joaquin but a short drive to lighthouse beach offered up calm waters and dolphins 100ft from shore!!!

Given the recent devastation caused by hurricanes to Sanibel Island, the Island Inn has bounced back remarkably. Good people and good accommodations. We definitely enjoyed our stay and plan on doing so again.

We absolutely loved our stay. We stayed in the superior suite on the 2nd floor. Beautiful view with stairs to walk right onto the beach. The unit was perfect. Completely stocked kitchen with full size fridge. Beautiful bathroom. They have facilities you can use when you check out and want to hang out a little longer on the beach. Great staff. So close to doc fords and 4 mins to a cvs. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back and stay longer.

The Island In property and grounds were beautiful, clean and in excellent condition. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We were given a welcome packet when we checked in, it had lots of useful information - even a high and low tide chart. We would definitely recommend Island Inn.

The staff at the Island Inn was wonderful. The communication great! With the location on the beach there was no need to go to any other beach and pay for parking. The room was beautiful and had everything you needed for a great vacation. Will stay here every time we visit Sanibel Island.

Wonderful stay

This is one of the absolutely best places on Sanibel to stay. Even post hurricaine x 2, the accomodations are extremely clean and well managed. Shelling and beach access here, was amazing!!
