Nice hotel with large rooms across from the Casino

We enjoyed our stay at the Fino. Apartment style rooms, very spacious in a quiet location. Older hotel but nicely decorated rooms. Bathroom was small though and needed updating. Otherwise very pleased with the large 2 bedroom suite that had a large separate living area and kitchen and included a washer/dryer. Very close to the casino and walking distance to the cathedral area. Bus stop right across from the hotel which was convenient for taking the bus to/from the airport. First night we did not have any wi-fi but this was quickly resolved. Front desk staff very friendly and accommodating.

The Fino served our purpose well. It was close to the CBD but not right in it. The CBD was very walkable for two people in their early 60's. There was a tram station a little over a block away at the Quake City exhibit which made getting into the CBD much easier. We liked the kitchenette in the suite. We were able to find a small convenience store a block away across from the Casino. The negative which was not a negative for us was that the in hotel restaurant had closed two weeks before and was not available for use. However, we did eat breakfasts in our suite each morning so was not an issue

The rooms are spacious and well equipped, but are looking a little tired in spots. Our room was certainly very comfortable but it really needed to be painted. But understandably, the pandemic put a lot of these types of finishing touches on the back burner. But still a very good place to stay.

We stayed for one night with our 3 children (ages 7-12 years old) for one night in a Penthouse unit. The unit was very clean and spacious but the decor was a bit odd/outdated. When we entered the unit you could smell cooking from a near by unit. There were plenty of towels and having a washing machine and dryer was greatly appreciated as Christchurch was our last stop before continuing our adventure in Australia.

Place to stay to begin your New Zealand adventure.

This hotel was where we chose to begin our NZ vacation and then end it. It is in a great location and the room was perfect for our family. Having two separate rooms and a living area made it easy and spacious. The staff was so friendly and helped us with all of our questions and anything we needed. We would recommend this hotel for anyone and most importantly the beds were super comfortable.
