Great stay

Staff were very knowledgeable about the local tourism attractions which turned out to be excellent. They also helped with personal requests. 2 separate rooms plus cooking facilities were great. Also loved the pool.

Disappointing and poor location

We were disappointing in our experience and cancelled our reservation after arriving. We did receive a partial (50%) refund as we left shortly after arriving. The staff was very friendly and this review is related to the room/motel itself and not the staff. The room was quite dirty when we arrived (carpet stains and things left on floor) and did not have any of the nicer leather furniture as shown in the photos. The room also was located adjacent to a motorway with heavy traffic. We decided that this would not be a good fit for our family with young children as I would not want them walking/crawling on the floor, and they would not be able to sleep with the sounds. Before arriving we had stayed at 5 other motels in NZ, all of similar cost and they were of much higher quality. The motel did have free WIFI which seemed to be of decent quality.

Great hotel close to the thermal activity

Lovely kitchen, a separate bedroom and 2 televisions. Enjoyed the private spa and we were impressed that the Alpin was the first hotel/motel in Rotorura that has harnessed some of the geothermal energy of the area to heat the spas. Only issue we had with the accommodation was that we weren't sure if there was a heater in the bedroom. There was a flat device on the wall, but there were no instructions. The staff were not available when we tried to use it, so we weren't able to find out about it.

Was a great room, clean and the bed was super comfortable. The tub was good and the pool too but was closed for one day for cleaning. Kitchenette is so handy, and ensuite. BBq area was great too but too many rules, especially during summer and couldnt sit and talk after 9pm. No spa after 10pm, no swimming after 7pm, security every night. Would still go back if security didn't go past every half hour lol. Nice staff. We had police around one day for strange groups on the property, scared some families with small tamariki.

I loved that our parking was right outside our room. It was also really great to have a spa just for our room. There was only one issue with our stay and that was that the air conditioning was broken. To be fair we didn't end up saying anything as we were in and out of our room and by the time we came back to the room at night we couldn't be bothered.
