What a great place to stay! The description of La Casa Roja is bang on! What a great place! Did I mention that already? 4 of us stayed for 6 nights and loved every minute of it. The open air concept was incredible. To be able to sit and watch Howler, White Face and Titi monkeys come through the backyard jungle along with Macaws, Agoutis and the resident Sloth was amazing! The owner, concierge and housekeeper were all great people and made our stay perfect! We highly recommend staying here!
This is a wonderful property in a tranquil setting to experience Costa Rican life. Property manager Carlos was great in helping us with local tour arrangements. He was very responsive with any problems and questions. The property is perched on a steep hill and a car is a must to get to grocery stores and restaurants.
While we were visiting the area received torrential rain so we didn’t get to experience the property as it was intended. However we learned the property has a small resort feel. Very well designed for communal visits. Very clean. Very well appointed. Very safe. But what makes this property exceptional are the people. Isolde the housecleaner was attentive and kind and kept the place spotless. Ricardo and his wife Alba prepared the yummiest of breakfasts… so beautifully prepared and presented. We also had 2 dinners prepared by them. We will never forget their outstanding meals and overall generosity. We have rented in several countries and this will remain closest to our hearts.
We stayed as a family of six - grandparents, parents and teen/kids and very much enjoyed this property. The house is very beautiful and well appointed, with lots of living spaces to hang out inside and out. The views are spectacular and we saw many birds and monkeys from the balcony overlooking the ocean. Rosy, the housekeeper, does an excellent job keeping everything tidy and does laundry every day! Alex, the property manager, is very helpful and offers help with whatever you request. Would recommend.
We had such a fabulous time. If you want to have the jungle at your doorstep, this is the place. Toucans, howler monkeys, capuchins (the mafia, they are crazy!!), Scarlett macaws, sloths, lizards. We saw them all from the poolside.
Beds were comfortable, big rooms, nice shady poolside. David was amazing. Super attentive. We had 2 catered meals that were fabulous.
A few noteworthy things.
The beach is walkable, but the walk back is quite uphill. Arrange a car or take the bus back. We tried to walk and it was rough!
The burgers at the bistro next door are amazing! A must try!
Lots of stairs so can be tricky if someone has mobility issues.
You see just as much wildlife at the villa as you do at Manuel Antonio park, but the beach is gorgeous.
Keep an eye on those capuchins. Same time every day they would try to get into the kitchen. They also pulled down the outdoor tv while we were on a tour. They’re bananas!
Thanks so much for your patience with our family!
Pura Vida!!!
The whole stay was AMAZING. Jorge was always attentive to all our needs. The chefs ( Germaine) were so good we had them make most of our meals. The housekeeper was so considerate and kept everything clean. Gabriel kept the pool and outside property clean. The wildlife showing up at the Villa kept the children entertained everyday. The view was breathtaking. Can walk to the beach in less than 5 minutes waking. Just a great family trip.
The villa was gorgeous - even better than the pictures.
We had 3 different species of monkeys visit us on our balcony during our stay - the white faced monkeys made themselves at home on the balcony and even took a dip in the hot tub. We also saw 2 sloth in the trees right outside our balcony.
Communication with the owner was prompt!
Our concierge Dani helped us book all of our tours and made us dinner reservations, including order us a cab to the restaurant when needed. She also got us groceries during f out stay. Make sure to bring enough cash to cover groceries - otherwise paying for them is a bit complicated.
The resort is gorgeous - the villa is right by the family pool so easy access. It is very private despite the close proximity.
We are at both restaurants and they were great.
