The moment we walked down the lane and opened the front door we were amazed by the historical surroundings and beauty. We wanted to experience authentic Japanese living and this did not fail us. The host left several restaurant recommendations and places to visit close by. Also provided details of other means of transportation. Such a great experience!!!

Almost like a ryokan

This was such an amazing stay. I wish we could have stayed longer just to enjoy this VRBO. We are a family of 5 with three teens and had enough space to sleep with the 5 futons. The stairs to the sleeping area could be a challenge for a person with mobility challenges. The house has been beautifully restored by its amazing owners who met us at checkin to give us a tour of this unique space. The nearby area gives you easy access to subways, Gion, Yasaka shrine and lots of shopping. This space ranks as one of our familys top VRBO stops of all time. Highly highly recommend.

Quiet Kyoto home

Quiet house. Very private. Perfect area for visitors to the city. The house had everything we needed. We used the second bedroom upstairs as a sitting area. Air con worked well. Western style bed comfortable though a little small. Washer/drier worked well. Note that the stairs in the house are very steep. Communication was excellent with host. Lovely experience to stay in a Japanese home.

Perfect house that combined traditional with modern. We loved the location. It was so easy to communicate with the property manager and team. They were so kind when they greeted us and were happy to help. Would recommend this place for sure!

Amazing space for a family

What a great perfect place for a family or group to stay. The host is super friendly and welcomes you into their place and shows you how everything works. The host really made our trip to Kyoto more enjoyable! The house is well equipped and the AC worked which was important for us during the summer heat wave. It is also a 2 min walk from a handy bus stop, a 20 min walk to Kinkakuji and a convenience store is close by. Also an amazing cafe called Latte Art junkies should not be missed. Laundry is on site and clothes are hung outside to dry. If you want to feel like you’re in Japan this is the place. PS the tub in the back is amazing!
