Holiday rentals near Christmas Church

We had a fabulous winter week in Upper Austria, staying at Forsthaus Gut Traunfried. The accommodation was perfect for us, comfortable and spacious, in a peaceful woodland location, a short distance from the lake and Schloss Klaus. The hosts speak English very well, and were quick to respond to our queries upon booking. They were welcoming and flexible, making it a very easy arrival. The location was great for our family skiing at Hinterstoder, which was about 15 minutes drive away. The house also had plenty of useful leaflets on places to visit in the region, and even in winter there are activities organised by the neighbouring national park Kalkalpen, including wild deer viewing, and snowshoe treks - booking is required. The monastery at Schlierbach (about 15 mins drive) was a great find, with a very baroque church, and a cafe with superb views across the valley. Altogether a wonderful winter holiday.
