Keswick Reach was a lovely place to stay and very secluded... too secluded for us. Our car broke down on day 3 of a 5 day stay. We were left solely dependent on what little food we had, what the shop sold and what the restaurant served. We found the shop lacked items like bacon, sausages, bread, etc but had a lot of sweets and crisps. It is far from other shops so we expected more.
My dad can't have cheese as it sets his heart out of rhythm, so he could only have garlic bread when it was pizza night. The receptionist didn't care when we expressed this concern. We also couldn't get my dad up the steep hill in his wheelchair to the restaurant. The bar supervisor said that we could collect an order on Thursday. We left the site that evening but we were thankful for the offer.
RAC had to come onsite 3 times over 2 days. We told reception about the 2nd visit who agreed to let him onsite but when they arrived, she refused to, despite clearly being from RAC. He finally got past as others wanted to be onsite behind him. We spoke to Morgan on the 3rd visit who let the van through- no problem at all!
We had some issues with the lodge which were seen to ASAP or would be sorted when we vacated. Most of the staff were friendly and happy to help. We found reception staff could do with a bit more compassion. Nobody wants to break down on their holiday after taking time off work and spending money on accommodation and day excursions so a little sympathy should not be too much to ask.
We really enjoyed our stay! The listing said it had a hot tub but when we arrived it didn’t. I read after that the external company listed it incorrectly. The only down side was the property wasn’t cleaned very well - old used contact lenses around the desk and bedside table and there was hairs on the bathroom shelf. I did a quick clean myself and throughly enjoyed the rest of our week the location was perfect and our lodge was next to the pond which was lovely.
