Great property clean and comfortable Beautiful views Excellent host nothing too much trouble

The property was better than described, being large, comfortable and with wonderful views. The house was very clean and well stocked with everything you could need. Jeanette and Steve, the hosts, are delightful, being very welcoming and helpful. The area is new to us and we were surprised how close everything was and how much we enjoyed it. No hesitation at all in awarding 5 stars for everything. Sheila & Steve Hilton.

We selected this lovely house in Mountshannon as it is all on the one level and indicated that it was wheelchair accessible. Our son uses a power wheelchair and it isn’t easy to find a suitable holiday home in Ireland. While this house isn’t fully adapted it worked very well for our son. Our host, Jim, was extremely accommodating and ensured there was a shower chair available and one of the showers worked fine for our son. One of the double bedrooms and adjacent bathroom was also very suitable for his powerchair. There are some steps between decking levels outside but there are lots of options for accessing them from inside the house as there are plenty of doors. The overall house is beautiful, very clean and well cared for with some lovely personal touches such as Jim’s own photos of the local countryside very nicely framed on the walls. There is an excellent laundry/utility room, a well stocked library with lots of guide books, local restaurant information etc. Mountshannon is a lovely quiet village with at least two great places for good food “The Snug” (lovely tapas, pizzas and wines served by very friendly staff), “Cois na hAbhna” (substantial and very tasty pub food, great mash and veg and also very nice staff). Also a good selection of eating options further afield in Whitegate, Scarriff and Killaloe. The small beach at Mountshannon harbour is a great place to take a swim in the lake. This is a really lovely location from which to tour around East Clare.

We arrived to the Walled Garden Cottage in the middle of a storm. We were very warmly welcomed by Anne who helped us sort out TV and music and inside no time we had a roaring fire. The beds are so comfortable and made up with 5 star quality linen. We both slept so well and woke up to the birds signing and sun shining. The kitchen is very well equipped and the pantry has a great stock supply. We both decided to cook and found really good local suppliers for fish and meat. Fresh vegetables from the garden were absolutely delicious. We loved sitting in the garden having good food and wine watching the butterflies and dragonflies. Frank and the staff on the estate were so helpful and kind calling to check if we had enough wood or if we needed something from the shop. Total relaxation. Do not hesitate to book.

We had a terrific couple of days in this beautiful property!!! Was very comfortable, beautifully decorated and every need catered for. Wonderful host-very thoughtful and plenty of attention to detail. Wish we had more time to stay here but unfortunately our time was limited. Definitely hope to be back!!! The garden is beautiful and so well cared for-so relaxing, but my kids preferred the basketball court & hurling/football pitch just a few yards up the street-kept them entertained until the darkness beat them!!!
