Great apartment for exploring North Tuscany

Terra Rossa is a great apartment to use as a base for exploring this fabulous but lesser visited area of North Tuscany. The apartment was perfect for our party of four with everything we needed for our 6 night stay. Kitchen area is small but well equipped. The terrace is a sun trap and great for early evening drinks. Location is quiet and on street parking was never a problem. It is a short walk down into Bagni di Lucca where there are all the amenities you need. The Conad supermarket is very well stocked. We ate in La Lira and Circolo dei Forestieri. The latter is particularly good and very reasonably priced for the quality of the food and local wine. There is lots to see in the area. We visited some amazing small hill top towns and villages where we were often the only tourists around. Lucchio, Montefegatesi, Barga and Trassilico were particularly lovely. Not all the villages have restaurants, but it is really worth making sure you get to eat in Rifugio La Mesta in Trassilico.Lucca and Pisa are more major towns within an hour's drive.Would very happily return to Terra Rossa in the future. Highly recommended.
