Charming self contained cottage in rural location

Sweet comfortable, self contained cottage in rural village with incredible views - large skies and amazing sunsets 10 minutes from The White Horse Hill, 25 minutes from Oxford and close to the Cotswolds and 35 minutes from Bicester Village , 50 minutes from Bath with excellent train service to London. Sleeps up to 6 -Kingsize double bed, twin room ( small double and single) and sofa bed and shower room. Well equipped kitchen - wood burning stove with wood provided. Use of tennis court and amazing woodland walks over private farmland. A perfect place to escape the hurly burly of city life.

Great place to stay whilst hiking the ridgeway. Very charming old cottage with lots of character. Lovely view out the front accross the green/grasses. Great facilities, and has everything you need.

We loved our stay, can't say enough nice things, the place was private, quiet and the evening views across the meadow were stunning. The cottage was lovely and I even liked the kooky beam in the floor of the main bedroom. The piano got played, the tennis court might not have been "tournament grade" but we played on it for ages everyday and loved that too. Kate was a great host and was always one text away from having an answer if required. Great place, great views, great location, great host. What more can I say! Thanks!!! :)

Nicely kept bolthole in the middle of rural Oxfordshire

Nice Cottage with access to lovely wild garden. We only stayed for three nights, on our way to the West Country. Lots to do nearby! Lovely sleepy village.

Great cottage in a beautiful location

Comfortable and characterful cottage in pretty rural village. Car a must for getting around. Had the best time. Super comfortable and host was very helpful through out stay. Wonderful wood burner would love to have stayed longer.

Lovely historic cottage

The cottage is in a wonderfully rural setting and was a peaceful place to stay. For garden lovers like us there were lots of places to visit within easy distance. Including Buscot Park and Kelmscott. It was also only a short trip to Oxford. All in all a great place for a short break or a longer stay.

Charming and comfortable

We found a charming little house with a very nice landlady, and really enjoyed our stay. There's everything you need, surrounded by beautiful British countryside. The little house is comfortable, well-kept and clean. Highly recommended! Thanks a lot, Kate!

Great place to stag

We loved it. Such a beautiful location. Kate was so easy to communicate with. If you want to be able to walk to a pub or facilities then it is not for you, but for an escape in the English countryside, it was perfect.

Just lovely

The cottage between meadows is a wonderful place to be. Everything is neat and clean. You can see rabbits, squirrels and sheep on a walk in the morning and while eating at the table a horse may pass by. It's allowed to use the garden and Kate herself is a nice and helpful person. We really enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful place for the nighttime.

Nice place with cosy atmosphere

We spent one week with our three children in the cottage. It fulfilled completely our expectations and we had all we needed. The cottage is placed perfectly for trips to Oxford, the Cotswolds and even a day trip to London from Didcot station) or the costal area around Portsmouth. Kate is a very good host and helps you as soon as there is any need. I guess we will be back to this place soon.

My husband and I live at Abbey Farm with my family who are now all grown up and living away from home . The farm is no longer a working farm though there are sheep in the fields. We have a dog, Basil.

Why they chose this property

The cottage is part of Abbey Farm - a 13th -16th Century farm house orginnaly built for the Abbey at Abingdon

What makes this property unique

Abbey Cottage is part of Abbey Farm which is a 17th Century farm set on a historic village green. Although Oxford/Bicester/Bath and historic towns of Wantage and Faringdon are all close by the village of Goosey has a rural atmosphere. We have 35 acres of farm land and woodland walks that you can walk over. There is a narea of the main garden that you can use and also a tennis court. There is also a ping png table which can be used outside when the weather is good.
