About this property
Gorgeous Home from Home - Pond Cottage
The cottage is situated within the grounds of Le Chateau de Monfreville, the ancestral home to Walt Disney's family dating back a 1000 years. The cottage is spacious & tastfully decorated. The cottage has its own private gardens & patio area. The chateau overlooks a national park which has superb wild life and walks. Within the grounds of the chateau, there is a natural swimming pond, a hot tub, a ping pong table, table football and an honesty shop with the essentials. In the summer months, The Bread Fairy is out & about delivering pastries & French bread to your door every morning. We have lots of lovely animals from kitty cats, horses, a donkey, chickens and Hector the labrador. Monfreville is a 4km drive to Isigny sur Mer where you will find a delightful port with supermarkets, restaurants, markets & cafes. The Chateau was commissioned almost a thousand years ago by William the Conqueror & was once home to Walt Disney’s family & then later occupied by German soldiers during WW2. The Chateau is steeped with history & central to the D Day Landing Beach of Omaha & The American Cemetery and Utah Beach, close to the villages of Sainte Mere Eglise & Sainte Marie du Mont. The medieval town of Bayeux is home to The British Cemetery & the famous Bayeux Tapestry. Mont St Michel, Monet’s Gardens, Honfleur & Paris are all great for a day’s adventure. For fun times there are miles & miles of golden sandy beaches making this a superb vacation for all ages. Normandy is known as the bread basket of France and you won't be disappointed. Isigny sur Mer is home to world class butter, cream and cheese. There is also a caramel factory with a superb shop which is ideal for gifts. Fish markets are open every morning and there is always a market on each day of the week. Chateau de Monfreville is a special retreat for all those that visit. There are plenty of cider farms in the area where you can go and taste the delights of Cider, Pommeau and Calvados.
