Charming 1940´s Wine Country Cottage With Porches, Flagstone Patio & Hot Tub
NOTE: We only rent by the month, so we are not required to charge the 12-13% vacation rental tax that most listings charge. Please factor this into the overall price when comparing our cottage to other rentals in the area.
Charming 1940's wine country cottage, with many original features including hardwood floors throughout (except bathroom), original cabinets, and decorative scalloped crown moulding. The vintage "shell" is complemented with a professional Viking Dual-Fuel Stove, and modern and mid-century modern furniture.
The cottage has two bedrooms and one bathroom, though the second bedroom is set-up as an office. It does have a pull-out couch that might be used for a quick visit, but the office is not appropriate for long-term sleeping purposes. King Bed in main bedroom.
The property is surrounded by beautiful mature oak trees, and has a charming covered back porch that overlooks a generous flagstone patio with a hot tub. Located in a special neighborhood in the eastern edge of Boyes Hot Springs that harkens back to the original weekend Sonoma cottages, an eight-minute drive south to the Sonoma Plaza, and 10 minutes north to wineries and restaurants in Glen Ellen and on into Kenwood. Two minutes to local restaurants (including the popular El Molino Central), shops, and the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn (spa day passes available through the Fairmont).
Suitable for one to two non-smoking people that need a fully-furnished short term rental of somewhere between a minimum of one month, up to 18 months or more (note the cottage is only available furnished). Great for harvest season corporate housing, a relocating professional, a home remodel, visiting grandparents, etc. Let us know what your situation is, and we'll try to work something out.

About the host
Hosted by Evan & Tracey Bennett
We have been living in Sayulita, Mexico, about an hour north of Puerto Vallarta, since 2008, where we manage our vacation rental (see: VRBO #394007). When we made the move to Mexico, we turned our home in Sausalito, California into a long-term rental. Tracey´s grandparents built a summer cottage in Sonoma in the 1940´s, which they moved into full time in the 1970´s. She had been visiting Sonoma ever since. We had always wanted another home for ourselves in the Sonoma area; that dream came true in 2014 with the purchase of this classic 1940´s summer cottage (note that is a private single family home — in other words, there are no other units/building on the property).
Why they chose this property
We enjoy using the cottage ourselves for a month here or a month there, and otherwise have been renting it out as a furnished short/longer term rental in between. When in Sonoma, we spend time cooking and relaxing at the cottage and enjoying the hot tub, enjoy riding our cruiser bikes around town, and partaking in Sonoma´s laid-back wine country lifestyle. We love this particular neighborhood for its beautiful oak trees, its winding maze of roads, and the fact that it is walking distance to good neighborhood eateries, like El Molino Central and small markets, like the Fruit Basket. And, the Fairmont Hotel/Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa (also in walking distance) offers day passes for “locals” if contacted directly.
What makes this property unique
It is centrally located to both “the Historic Sonoma Plaza” and towns north like, Glen Ellen & Kenwood. But, we also love it because of its non-conformity — that is, no cookie-cutter homes nor sidewalks to speak of — with a taste of what it was like back in the day of summer cottage living. We look forward to sharing it with you and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!
