Wonderful old cottage in a beautiful location

We felt like inside a dream when we arrived at this charming cottage set in the mountains of the stunningly beautiful Beara peninsula. It's very comfortable and decorated with much love by our hosts Mary and Mike, who gave us a very warm welcome, even though we arrived very late. They also gave us a lot of useful information during our stay. The cottage has a beautiful garden and a breathtaking, stunning view from the top of the mountain, there are lovely sheep and I swear that fairies are living in the back garden. It's the perfect place for people who love nature, animals and are looking for a quiet place to relax. But beware, it's really really remote! However, by car, you can explore all of Beara and The Ring of Kerry (we discovered that Beara is much more wild and beautiful). Heed Mary's advice that you should go grocery shopping on your way to the cottage (stop at one of the supermarkets in Kenmare) and make sure you'll bring food and drinks for the first one or two days when you arrive! But there is a cute little supermarket in Ardgroom (also make sure to visit the stone circle there), and three restaurants closeby: An Sibhin (only open on weekends), Josie's (on top of a mountain with great view) and Helen's Bar at the harbour. Make sure to visit Helen's Bar, it has the best mussels I had in my whole life and other great food for reasonable prices. You'll find shops, restaurants and pubs in the lovely little town of Kenmare which is about half an hour's drive away. Maybe a wi-fi TV so you can stream Netflix, but we were very happy to read books and play tabletop games, it's not bad at all to do some online detox for a while. :)

Angela’s Farmhouse Sept 2023

Loved it all, Mike & Mary are wonderful, the views are stunning, Healy Pass is gorgeous, Helen’s Bar is the best pub ever and the cottage has just the right degree of separation - private but not isolated. We would happily stay here again

Most beautyful view ever

We travelled with our dog by car from germany to come to this fantastic place. We loved the location. The house overlooks mountains and sea, its separated and totally quiet. The garden is fenced in completely. Very nice and helpful owners. If you like nature and beiing for yourself its a perfect place.

Peace and tranquility

We had a lovely warm welcome from Mary.The house had a cosy and homely atmosphere and was full of character. The views of kenmare bay and the mountains were stunning. The bed was extremely comfortable. We appreciated the feather pillows and the caring touches like fresh flowers from the garden.The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. The silence here was deeply relaxing and good for the soul. We saw sheep and deer from the house. It felt very private and secluded. An excellent base for getting away from it all with incredible beauty all around.

Fantastic view

We had a very nice stay. The view is truly asthonishing amd different in every type of weather. The contact went well and Mary responded quickly and helpfully to every question. The cottage is in a very beautiful spot and very quiet. On arrival the fireplace was ready to light. There is sufficient wood in stock.

One of those places.......

A house with a wonderful view..what a great location! A perfect base to discover Beara. And a little more. And Mary is a perfect host. Even wood for the fire was supplied. Probably the two most important things IN the house, the bed and the shower, were more than okay. So, we , a Dutch couple, had a great time in Ireland and in Angela's Farmhouse The furniture in the garden.

Our forever love home...

We love everything of the cottage, the nature around, the closeness of The Healy Pass, the privacy. The hosts are the most kind, friendly, helping people with a great love for animals and the sheep farmer has the wonderful gift of a dog whisperer... We're truly home here, every year! Next year in May we'll be back as we will be every year until we've found our own foreverhome in the Beara region! Nothing really. For us the cottage is perfect, as wonderful as the people are!

Family of four & two dogs

Lovely remote cottage full of old world charm. We stayed for a week. The views are absolutely breathtaking and plenty of places to visit. Kenmare is the nearest bigger town,30 minutes away, and has all the pubs and restaurants that you could need and also all the supermarkets. A little closer to the cottage you can go to Helens Bar in Killmackiloge, gorgeous seafood and its only a 10 minute drive from the cottage. Our dogs loved the garden as it's huge and fenced in. The kids had the use of the playground in the attached campsite below us so as long as they had somewhere to go we were happy. All in all we had a great time and a big thanks to Mary for all the info and looking after us.

Cosy and what a view!

Very warm welcome and informative tour from the owner Mary. Old stone dwelling renovated in the 70's which still has that authentic charm. Well stocked with every conceivable item one could need, and even an open fire and stove set ready to be lit, Surrounded by a large enclosed garden, accessed through the owner's small campsite on the road to the Healy Pass, yet very private with stunning views and surrounded by mountainous terrain, home to the owner's sheep. Possible useful hint - we found that when we used the open fire for the first time on a windy evening that some smoke escaped into the room. On subsequent occasions we pulled the damper forward and the problem didn't arise. However, we can't be sure that the closed damper was the problem rather than the wind!

Beautiful country house in a stunning location

I stayed in Angela's cottage for 7 nights with my two children and our dog in early January. It was truly a lovely experience. The location is wonderful. High up in the mountains and every room in the house has a gorgeous view of valleys, fields and mountains. The house itself is so cute and comfortable. It has everything one could need - all cooking utensils, various books, games, candles, flashlights. Bed linen, towels and blankets in abundanc. Firelighters, Wood and coal for the fire was provided. It felt very safe. Sheep are everywhere but the garden is fenced off so there was plenty of room for the dog to run around. The farmers sheepdog came into the garden frequently. This did not bother our dog but could bother another dog. You can climb the mountain behind the house and it's worth it. It's about a 30 min drive from kenmare town which we visited twice. Bring wellies and boots...there is LOTS of mud when the weather is rainy in winter. The hosts were very pleasant. I am definitely returing and sooner rather than later! One thing was a little off putting. When the host was showing me around she told me that she is very fussy about the house and expects it to remain clean. I felt this commentwas unnecessary and made me feel a little under pressure. Presumably there is a cleaning fee included in the price.

Breathtaking!

Second stay at Angela's farmhouse- lovely farmhouse that has everything you could possibly need. The scenery here is second to none- a real gem. Came here to write my dissertation but honestly, that view is just too distracting! Will be back!
