Birmingham City Centre, a neighbourhood in Birmingham, is home to this guesthouse. Symphony Hall and Cadbury World are cultural highlights, and travellers looking to shop may want to visit Bullring & Grand Central and Broad Street. Looking to enjoy an event or a game? See what's going on at Utilita Arena Birmingham or Villa Park. Fishing offers a great chance to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with cycling and rock climbing nearby.
A spacious double bedroom, with ensuite. The Old Crown is a striking building, rich in history and character and is one of a few remaining examples of Birmingham's medieval past. The building is a Grade II listed building and was built circa 1368. It is believed that every room has a tale to tell and it is said that the Old Crown is haunted by not one but two ghosts! Ask our staff for some of the building's spooky tales.
The Old Crown is located only half a mile from the city centre, making it perfect for anyone travelling for work, wanting to visit the Bullring (our proud shopping complex), see our sights or just for a break. There are good transport links with buses and trains running in the local area.
Although we do not have on-site parking, there are a number of local car parks (2 located on the High Street, visible from the hotel), feel free to enquire with us for more details or directions. We are located in the heart of Digbeth, which is a lively area filled with culture and a hospitable community.
The Old Crown is well known for it's events, such as Oktoberfest, 12 Weeks of Summer, takeovers and many more. Due to the fact the building is Grade II listed, some noise does travel around the building from our garden, and the surrounding roads. However, if you are looking for somewhere steeped in history and character, The Old Crown is the perfect place.
We have a kitchen on-site providing freshly made food and pub classics.

We will be staying again !!
We booked a midweek one night stay , Our room was very welcoming and lovely and warm. All the staff who we encountered were helpful and pleasant. Being able to park our car at the Pub prior to checking in enabled us to take full advantage of the central location as the Bull ring is only a 10 min walk away.

Stayed for one night whilst attending a gig at the O2 Institute. A 5 min walk from the venue and perfect for the night’s stay. If visiting the O2 Institute again we will definitely choose to stay here again.

Amazing Find
The hotel is perfectly located just a 15 minute walk from Birmingham New Street. The room we stayed in was beautiful - all old furniture, exposed beams and very clean. The service we received was great, the staff were very friendly and happy to help. The place was very clean. We'll be coming back!

Atmospheric, friendly, clean
As soon as I walked in was delighted and surprised by the ambience. My room was directly above the pub so it was noisy at night (otherwise I'd have given 5 stars) but it was warm and comfortable and very old! I loved staying in a place steeped in history, with reasonable rates and very helpful, friendly staff, I'll be back on my next visit to Birmingham

Great place to stay within walking distance of Bullring and University campus. Super friendly staff. Bit noisy but the room was large and clean and practical. Bed was comfy. i had a great stay. Recommend for those on a budget but want a decent room- not a chain.

comfortable with not one straight wall!
only stayed for a short time at this 650 year old inn. i had the big double corner room with large en suite bathroom. The shower was fantastic- hot and powerful! bed comfy although my top sheet wasnt the cleanest. The stairs are very steep so not suitable for those that need extra stability.

Beautiful building in a great location
Despite the road outside being ripped up for the trams/HS2/etc etc this building was easy to find and the staff were really friendly and prepared to look after our bags prior to check in. Matt was especially helpful. The interior of the pub and its guest rooms were gloriously ancient and had an authentic feel. The stairs were twisty and steep (as you would expect in such an old building). The ensuite bathroom was well fitted out and modern.

INDEBTEDNESS!
The room had character, bed was cosy and the bathroom large.
But the icing on the cake were staff & management.
My husband is disabled but everyone made our visit work. Staff were always available to assist my husband up/down difficult stairs.
The food was par excellence!
Special thanks to Bronwyn, Ollie and the young man who helped us leave for our coach at 3am in the morning ❤️
