Bathroom: Bath With Shower Over, Toilet. Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Travel cot, highchair and stairgate.. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.. Nestled within the village, this historic cottage stands as one of the only two pairs of cruck-framed long houses that endure the test of time. These traditional abodes, characterized by arched strong beams, served as shelters for both families and livestock. A glimpse into the past is offered through the well-preserved features, from the enduring beams in the ceiling to the captivating fireplace in the entrance hallway.
Spanning two floors, this charming country cottage invites you into a warm embrace. The ground floor unfolds with an entrance hall leading to a cosy living room, complete with an electric fire nestled in a stone fireplace—an ideal sanctuary during winter. The living room seamlessly connects to the adjacent dining room, which, in turn, opens into a well-equipped kitchen. The kitchen exudes a welcoming atmosphere, boasting a spacious gas range cooker with a double oven and eight gas rings—perfect for crafting hearty, home-cooked meals. Convenience extends to a ground-floor shower room with a toilet.
Ascending to the first floor, the first bedroom reveals a double bed beneath a vaulted beamed ceiling, complemented by fitted wardrobes and drawers. The second bedroom showcases the original cruck beam, housing a second double bed, built-in wardrobes, and bedside cabinets. A family bathroom completes the upper level, featuring a bath with a shower over it. Adjacent to the parish church, Kings Head Cottage resonates with the chimes of Sunday bells. Stepping out, you find yourself just moments away from the town’s myriad shops, cafés, restaurants, and attractions. Pickering, a picturesque market town with a medieval castle, serves as an ideal launchpad for exploring the North York Moors and the nearby coastline.
Discover the charm of Pickering with its iconic steam train journeying through heather-clad landscapes to quaint villages and Whitby. The North York Moors, a haven for walkers, boasts numerous trails and abundant wildlife. Nearby, the food capital of Yorkshire, Malton, beckons with its market, award-winning restaurants, and cookery school. Castle Howard, a magnificent stately home, promises awe-inspiring moments. Kings Head Cottage offers a perfect retreat for a delightful and diverse Yorkshire experience.

A beautiful cottage in a great setting.
A beautiful cottage in a great setting. Thank you for putting up Christmas decorations it made the stay more special. One thing that I found irksome were the church bells peeling every 2 hours through the night. Definitely would return
Most enjoyable, well appointed cottage comfortable central to the town. Plenty to do and see with the railway nearby.
We are looking forward to coming back next year.
The Young family.
We had a lovely holiday the Cottage was in the heart of Pickering near the shops or to have a meal and a drink in the evening also for touring around the area.
The cottage was well appointed well maintained and very comfortable. We did have an issue which was rectified the same day.
I would recommend this cottage.

Beautiful, cozy cottage in a central location, only a short walk to shops, bars and restaurants.
Beautiful, cozy cottage in a central location, only a short walk to shops, bars and restaurants. Well equipped for couples and families. There are two parking spaces, but their location is not obvious on arrival and it would be advantagous for this information to be in the arrival instructions rather than just in the visitors book inside the cottage. The only thing that spoilt our stay, as light sleepers, was the church bells sounding every 15 minutes with only a couple of hours respite in the early hours.

Puckering stay
Overall very good after initial problems with accessing the property, given the wrong keycode, the address given, although technically correct was not the name on the property, unable to contact anyone, it was after 9 pm on a Saturday though. After all this, once access was gained the property was lovely, easy access to everything and full of charm and character. Recommend a stay here

I would like to give this 5 stars but I am unable to do so because of the local church which is very close to the cottage. For whatever reason, the bells were ringing out at all sorts of times — including 11pm, 2am and 6am!!The sound of the bells made it impossible to get a decent night’s sleep.Someone needs to report this and get it stopped.
The property was clean, cosy, warm and well furnished. Close to a number of pubs and restaurants.
