There is a comfortable sofa bed offering an optional flexible sleeping arrangement. Off to bed and the master bedroom has a Super King size bed – dressed in beautiful bed linens, indulge in the peaceful sounds of the countryside and the nearby river. A real highlight is this charming cottage’s riverside location, not only are there beautiful views surrounding the property, there’s also the soothing sounds of the trickling river running close by. Sit outside and soak up the tranquil atmosphere from the pretty garden patio at the front of the cottage, in the cooler months there’s an outdoor log burner to keep you warm! With an excellent variety of local amenities on the doorstep, you can simply park up your car and enjoy the area on foot. You can stroll to the High Street where you will find pubs, tea shops and cafés, local butchers, bakers, and takeaway food options. Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Stanhope is often referred to as ’The Gateway to the Dales’ and is an ideal choice for walkers and cyclists.

At the nearby Durham Dales Centre, you will find a great selection of walking maps, and information as well as a variety of craft shops and a small café. There are many established walks, cycle paths and routes running directly from the town and out towards some of the traditional villages including Eastgate, Cowshill, Rookhope, Killhope, Frosterley and Wolsingham. Ideal for children is the Weardale Railway that stops in Stanhope and covers an 18-mile heritage line that runs through parts of County Durham and has different events all year round, including the very popular Train to Christmas Town. In the warmer weather, enjoy the Weardale Open Air Swimming Pool, which is the only heated open-air pool in the county, and perfect for a warm dip surrounded by beautiful views of the countryside.
