Just a short walk from the beach lie the central areas of Bellaria and Igea Marina, entirely pedestrianised and made famous since the 1980s by modern urban renewal projects. From the “Cagnona” area on the northern edge—where “La Casa Rossa,” the home of writer Alfredo Panzini, stands—all the way to Parco Pavese in the south, you can follow a nearly uninterrupted pedestrian path winding through gardens, trees, modern shops, bars, and restaurants.
The canal harbour will reveal the truest essence of local traditions; here you can buy the catch of the day directly from the fishermen’s counter and ask for advice on how best to cook and enjoy fresh fish from the Adriatic.
One of the most enchanting places from an environmental perspective is the “Sentieri per l’Uso,” a bike and walking path that starts in the town centre and winds along the river until it reaches the nearby town of San Mauro Pascoli.
Parco del Gelso, in Igea Marina, is one of the largest green spaces found in the urban areas along the Adriatic coast. It stretches around the lake of the same name and extends southward to the centre of Igea Marina. Its lush vegetation and themed areas make it a very relaxing destination.
