We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful home! Everything we could have needed was there from the fully stocked kitchen, cozy bedrooms, and charming back yard! This neighborhood was so lovely and quiet! It was centrally located to all Pasadena has to offer and close to freeways if you want to travel to other areas of LA.
We really enjoyed this charming, well appointed home. The back yard was beautiful and the pool was perfect for the kids. The neighborhood was quiet and walkable with plenty of good food and coffee spots nearby. The host was responsive, helpful, and accommodating.
The house is beautiful, and we had a wonderful time here. Everything is very thoughtfully laid out, and of course the pool is amazing. We have two small children, and some family members with young kids came by as well—the pool has lots of shallower parts that were perfect for playing in! Everything was immaculately clean. What a gorgeous property, and in such a perfect location as well. Bungalow Heaven is beautiful, and proximity to Millie’s was a big bonus.
Wow!!! what a beauty this house was, they thought of everything...well stocked with towels, dishes etc.
the backyard was beautiful to enjoy outside and very quiet
neighborhood.
Our family had the best stay ever. Our 3 year old screaming excitedly about the orange tree. Everyone slept comfortably. The pool was totally enjoyable each afternoon. We usually ate outside at the wonderful table under the lines. We often sat around the circle of chairs reading our books. It was truly a heavenly place to stay for a much needed family respite with our son just a mile away.
We were delighted to stay in Bungalow Heaven for a Thanksgiving family reunion. The neighborhood is amazing, with several cafes and markets within walking distance. The house is historic but has modern / upgraded kitchens and baths. The owner was available to answer our questions and provided coffee/bottled water and treats, as well as a very useful information guide. At times we simply found ourselves staring out the windows at the beautiful yard and landscape. We had a wonderful time!
Had a wonderful experience at this cute house in the historic bungalow district in Pasadena. It was fully stocked with everything we needed for our stay.
The owner said they are getting custom blinds for the upstairs loft soon. Just be aware it makes for little privacy and makes it hard to sleep if you are sensitive to light.
We love staying at this house. This was our third stay. The Hochberg's are very responsive to our questions and needs. The weather was too cold to use the pool and spa. The new per diem cost to use and heat the pool/spa is now prohibitive. In the future, we will most likely choose a property that does not have a pool.
Our family of 4 spend almost two month at the house. The house is Conveniently located in a quite family neighborhood. The house was comfortable, cozy with well equipped kitchen that has everything you need for cooking and enjoying family meals. Little touches all over the house makes you feel welcomed. Our favorite place was to spend time at the beautiful outdoor patio, with lemon and orange trees, pool and jacuzzi. Wonderful garden makes one feel on vacation. Everything is well taken care off. The owners are incredibly responsive and accommodating. We would highly recommend the place.
We stayed a month in this beautiful older home that Pasadena is known for. Neighborhood is great and nice location. Unfortunatly the garbage disposal broke on day one and was never repaired. Because we had huge historic rain storms for a few days, we couldn't use the beautiful backyard because the cushioned chairs were water logged and never really dried out. Suprised the owner never contacted us about how the house weathered the storms. Overall, I think it was a great house, neigborhood, and location.
My husband and I came to Seattle with three 90-year old parents, for our son’s college graduation. The house is lovely and the back yard a serene sanctuary. The only things I will point out is that the two rooms with queen beds the beds are very high for short people. Also there is not a handrail at front entrance. These are only issues if you are visiting with folks who have balance and mobility issues. Despite these challenges we all had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the house/backyard tremendously. Thank you Ruth!

Wonderful! Exactly what I hoped it would be!!
The pictures, while very accurate, don’t do justice this wonderful bungalow. The owners, Ruth & Phil, could not have been more accommodating. Their communication from the moment we booked and through out our stay was timely and responsive. Their vacation home is maintained to an extremely high standard ( and I am very particular). The hot tub, pool, bed & bath linens, and kitchen cookery, dish and glassware were all off high quality & plentiful. I was on a business trip in Pasadena with my husband and a colleague and booked the bungalow so we could relax & unwind after long days. It was perfect. We cooked, swam in the pool and hung out in the hot tub every day. Great way to start and end our long, physically packed days! I plan to book the house on another trip to Pasadena!
Ruth,
I wanted to take a moment to emphasize just some of the features of your home that we took advantage of during our stay. For starters, the proximity to JPL was key to our decision to stay in Pasadena while visiting our son. It is also very close to the very first disc golf course in the world – Oak Grove – which I played 4 times. Having a private, non-shared home for the week was very important to us. We’d start by planning each day during breakfast before going out to experience a different activity in Los Angeles. We’d end our day in the pool in the late afternoon and debrief there before dinner. The pool was great. During our stay, the daytime temperature was between 92 and 100 degrees. We did not need to use the pool heater at all during our stay. From the pool, we marveled at the beautiful landscaping that surrounded the pool area. We could spot a few oranges that looked almost ready to pick in the tree! We used the grill to cook out a couple of evenings. It was perfect. Having the ability to do laundry during our stay meant having very little to do when we returned home! Inside the home décor preserved the beauty of the craftsman bungalow style in detail. One morning we used the oven to bake cookies for the big cookie contest at JPL (3rd place in the contest). We were so busy during our trip that we didn’t have a chance to watch television at all – which was really nice. And we were usually so tired that we were asleep by about 9:30 every night. Thank You!!!
The place is great. We are returning in March 2023.. The only slight negative is the incessant barking of the two dogs next door to the south. Also, we had some issues controlling the pool and spa with the app. For some reason, our principal phone would not work. We had to download the app to a second phone. The unit is wonderfully equipped with every possible thing that one would need. The Hochbergs are great landlords and very responsive to our needs.
Pristine, lovely and homey.
Ruth, I just want to say that it was absolutely adorable and it made us feel like we were in someones warm, inviting home instead of stuffy hotel, but all we were saying is that we want to buy your lovely home and live there. It was peeerfeect for our needs.
The memories that we made there for my son's wedding is truly priceless. Location was fabulous, we were about 6 minutes from the brides home and 5 minutes from the other family that booked there vrbo's. I would love to stay there again, I hope that we were happy with is as quests as well.
Thank You,
Warm Wishes

The home was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay overall. The upstairs children's bedroom does however need blinds/window coverings to keep the room temperature reasonable and to keep the sun out in the early morning so that children can sleep. Currently there are no window coverings in that room so we had to make do with a DIY approach during our stay.
I did also have a difficult moment with the owner who accused us of having a dog in the house (having received false information from someone - a disgruntled neighbor perhaps?) with no basis for the accusation and who did not apologize for the upset her rude accusation caused us. So beware of that risk.
The location was perfect for our stay but I suspect the neighbors aren't too happy with having people coming and going and may have deliberately raised a false alarm to create an issue between us and the owner. Either way her approach was rude and accusatory, and we did not appreciate that. I would not return on that basis.

Response from VrboOwner on 2 Jan 2023
We're glad you enjoyed the house. As to the "rude" accusation of dogs, we have a strict no pets policy (clearly stated in our rental agreement and house rules and on the VRBO site). Our housekeeper saw a dog in the rear door window when she took the garbage cans to the curb. I asked you about the dog, stated we have a no dogs policy and indicated if you had a dog you must vacate and you will lose your security deposit. Your response was you did not have a dog. I apologized if I was in error. After you left my housekeeper sent me photos of dog urine on the balcony that she had to clean with bleach. Multiple neighbors indicated you had two medium to large dogs that barked incessantly at the front window. We stated in our house rules and rental agreement that we are not a pet friendly house and the evidence indicates you violated those rules and then were not truthful when I asked you a direct question.
We loved the place. The Hochberg's were most responsive to all questions and concerns. Their regular service people were on time and did superb work. We have scheduled two more stays at this property. We wanted to do a third, but the place was booked.
This is the second time we stayed in this house
We loved both times
Very comfortable inside
Great outside, perfect for eating at a large table for 8 people
Pool and hot tub very nice
Great neighborhood
We will go back with no hesitations
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the property. The kitchen is fully equipped, spacious and in a quiet and charming neighborhood. The pool and spa and surrounding landscaping made for a very relaxing time. We were in LA for our daughter's wedding weekend and had the week before for last minute planning and relaxation. It was a gracious home for us to have two couples stay with us and to congregate with some of our wedding guests. My husband and I would like to come back and stay for a month next winter.
Beautiful historic bungalow with gorgeous landscaping and pool.
We had a wonderful stay at Ruth and Phil’s property. It was clean, well equipped and located close to family living nearby, shops and restaurants. It’s beautifully landscaped and well stocked. We had a few issues with the pool and house heating but Phil was super responsive and helped us address things. We look forward to our next stay.

Welcome to our Pasadena Bungalow! We love our charming Bungalow and use this home for family vacations and gatherings - as our family is spread out across the country. She was built in 1914 and I always marvel and think about the life this house has seen. My family history in Pasadena goes back generations. Our Pasadena Bungalow holds precious memories for our family and I hope that you too will be able to create wonderful moments here. I am so happy that we are able to share her character and charm. She truly is a gem!
Why they chose this property
Pasadena is a city in California, northeast of downtown Los Angeles. In the center, Old Pasadena is a shopping and dining district known for its Victorian and art deco buildings. This beautiful city is famous for hosting the annual New Year's Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl. Pasadena has so much to offer; great restaurants, shopping, museums, and The Pasadena Playhouse stages acclaimed dramas and musicals. Pasadena is centrally located for all Southern California landmarks, theme parks, beaches etc.
What makes this property unique
You will absolutely fall in love with her charm. From her sweet, inviting front porch with views of this picturesque tree lined neighborhood, to all her 1914 built in character. The loft upstairs is one of my favorite areas with 2 balconies featuring mountain views and it's a perfect little quiet cozy get away. The master bedroom has a romantic view of the beautiful backyard and pool area, and is even more spectacular when lit up at night.
