Great vacation

We are with friends coming regularly to Rookery as we love nature , we need relaks after busy week, we keep cosy atmosphere by having fire in room , beds are comfortable with electrical blanket. Great place to go for trip in nature. Thank you

Idealic location for a reunion of friends

Our third visit to the Rookery didn't disappoint. As friends who met over 50 years ago and shared accommodation together then it was great to have that spirit back again in the Rookery. With such a splendid isolated location with just the sheep and grouse for neighbours we could cook together, walk together and have a great laugh. As before Brian and Susan gave us a lovely welcome and were always on hand if we needed anything. We enjoyed being close to so many glorious circular walks as well as having the exceptional beauty of Autumn coming through. There were eight in our party and the Rookery was excellent value for money.

Magical

This is an amazing place in a stunningly beautiful bucolic setting. The house is great, the history is great, the location is remote but not too remote, and there are all sorts of things to see and visit within an hour drive in any direction At night it is silent except for the occasional bleat of a sheep far away. I encourage you to stay at this place while it is still available, since in some ways it seems too good to be true. Great place for kids too. Very safe and lots of outdoor space to play and explore. I plan to come back someday if I can.

A wonderful and very spacious home in a fabulous countryside setting. There is a big well equipped kitchen, comfy sofas in large lounge areas for TV or games evenings, with wood burning stoves to keep us warm on cooler days. Great outdoor space to enjoy an evening BBQ and our grandchildren loved the little games room. Shops are a few miles drive away.

Beautiful Stay

Our visit to The Rookery was fantastic and in a great location to explore the Yorkshire dales, we had a great time away holidaying with 5 children the grounds offered great adventures for them to explore and play. Inside was really spacious and you never felt that you were on top of each over. I would definitely visit again and would recommend to anyone.

This place is amazing! We have been holidaying as a group of friends every year for the past 10 years in country houses and this is the best to date.So peaceful! The games room was a hit.

Excellent family get together

We had a brilliant stay at the Rookery! We were a family gathering of 6 adults and 4 boys, ranging from 6 to 9, and the space, both indoors and outdoors was ideal for games and relaxation.The kitchen was very well equiped, with everything we needed and the sleeping arrangements worked really well, with very comfortable beds and lovely thick curtains which meant the boys settled down well.

Annual catch up with old school mates

Stayed for 2 nights but could have stayed for 2 weeks. Lovely and quiet, great outdoor fire pit area and acres of space to socialise and chill indoors. Would highly recommend.

Highly recommend

Three generations stayed at The Rookery for one week in May. We loved the house which had lots of room for our grandchildren to play games: hide and seek was a definite favourite! The grounds were fabulous! A very safe place for children to play & enjoy the outdoors.

Beautiful House

We loved our stay at this house. Our children felt like they were living in a castle and had so much fun pretending to be princesses. There were 6 adults and 4 kids total in our group and this house was the perfect size to accommodate all of us. The scenery was beautiful and we enjoyed relaxing and having family dinners at the big table. The owners were very kind as well. Thank you for having us!

Third visit to the property. Excellent as always. The only thing that is less than perfect is the water pressure in the showers.

Warm and welcoming. Comfortable and characterful.

The Rookery was an ideal location from which to explore the Dales and beyond, and also a warm and welcoming place to return at the end of each excursion. It's a house with character, very well equippped, spacious and comfortably furnished. Just right for our group and we were sorry to have to leave.

The rookery bishopdale

The rookery is so comfy, well stocked ,homely and inviting with beautiful views and surroundings. The hosts are very accommodating only there when you need them. Cosy wood burners with ample space. Lots of space for car parking. Not far from amenities.

Family getaway

A lovely house in a beautiful location well equipped for our family of 10. Our grandchildren loved the garden / games room and the new born lambs and very sad when it was time to come home. They also said when can we go back

Family Holiday

We have been visiting The Rookery for about 14 years now on and off (more on than off) . We have always been greeted and warmly welcomed by Sue on the day we arrive. What's not to love about this place, as soon as we get through those gates it feels like home for the week. It has everything we need and more. We have cooked home made bread in the aga and made some cheese too . We have welcomed two granddaughters over the past 3 years and are making special memories for them. Nadine and Joanne are very approachable and have been more than helpful on many occasions when we've need their help. We will continue to visit this beautiful accomodation in the foreseeable future. It's lovely to see all the little lambs arrive during our stay too Happy times
