Mixed feelings: The good: The building is lovely with classic Tuscan views direct from the spacious bedrooms. The pool is wonderful. The location great for exploring, The beds are comfortable - on the firm side. The apartment well-cleaned. There are many wineries and restaurants within 15 minute drive. Castell del Piano is 20 minutes away with all the facilities of a small town. The not so good: Our reception on arrival was curt - Emmanuelle speaks little English and no German. Simone neither. The two times we called on them (one to get a leak in the bathroom fixed, the other to enquire about the washing machine) they were out for the day. Though the leak was promptly fixed, but no help using the communal washing machine, There was never an offer of breakfast or dinner. The brochure shows that they produce their own wine - but there was never any mention of this. There was never any help with recommendations for sightseeing, restaurants or wineries to visit. In fact, no touristic interaction at all. Some written information would have helped, but this was also absent. The photos are circa twenty years old - the garden around the house is now rather unkempt. The stairs to the pool were overgrown by the hedge on the side. The kitchen was adequately-stocked with equipment - sharp knives were missing. You need to buy coffee capsules yourself and only three dishwasher tabs for a week. Lastly, on departure, we were asked if we'd broken anything - this is a first for us at a holiday rental!
