We had a very good week-end in Silton Hall. The house was perfect for our large family group - spacious, comfortable, clean and in good condition. The swimming-pool was warm and there was always lots of hot water for washing-up and showers. Excellent.

Great house. Plenty of room for all 14 of us! The pool is a fantastic addition. The open fire in the tower living room was wonderful on an evening. Would definitely book again and recommend to friends.

Birthday stay

We were disappointed when we arrived because the house hadn’t been heated. It was 14 degrees and we had to spend the evening in the kitchen with our coats on to keep warm. It wasn’t obvious how to change the heating so it reached 16 degrees maximum and was absolutely freezing at night. We have a 3 month old baby so I spent the night worrying he was too cold. The next day my husband did manage to fix the heating only to find out the pool wasn’t heated much to the kids disappointment. The cooking facilities were also poor for big parties with very few big pans etc. Overall I felt our short stay was tainted by these things and it wasn’t worth the money. It’s such a shame as it looked great on the listing! I was thinking about asking for a partial refund as it almost ruined my 40th and my sisters 50th celebration. For future stays I suggest the cleaners make sure the heating is on as it will be bitter in the winter for people and you will get more bad reviews

Dear Karen, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay with us. I’m genuinely sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet expectations and that there were multiple issues that caused frustration, especially during such an important celebration. I want to sincerely apologize for the discomfort you experienced with the heating. It’s absolutely unacceptable for guests to arrive to a cold home, especially when there’s a young baby involved, and I can understand how distressing this must have been. We will review our heating procedures to ensure that it is properly set before each arrival, particularly during the colder months, and we’ll make sure the instructions for adjusting the system are clearer for future guests. Regarding the pool, I’m sorry to hear that it wasn’t heated to the level you expected. We will take a look at the pool heating system to ensure it’s functioning as it should, so future guests are not disappointed. I also regret that the cooking facilities weren’t sufficient for your needs. We will review the kitchen equipment to ensure there are enough large pans and other essential items for larger groups. We truly value your feedback as it helps us improve the experience for all guests. I understand how frustrating these issues were, and I’m very sorry that it impacted your 40th and your sister’s 50th celebration. We want every guest to have a positive experience, and we’ll certainly use your suggestions to make improvements. Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback. I hope we can make it right for you and restore your faith in our property. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further concerns or suggestions. Warm regards, Charlie

Nice place but issues

The property itself was fine, except the listing did not list some very important things number one none of the windows could open they seem to be sealed shut with paint or someone nailed or screwed shut so we were not able to open any windows. This is a major problem because it was too hot, especially in the bedrooms upstairs and secondly we need fresh air and the house smells of paint. We would not have picked this property if We knew the windows would not open. Number two we picked this because in the listing it said you could walk to the pub just a few minutes away. However, that pub has been closed completely for well over a year so this was very very misleading would not have gone there, I don’ Communication between the Hostandstay and S was very slow and I’m not always helpful We were also told when asked that some of the food delivery apps such as Deliveroo did deliver to this property, well, they did not The Sun lounges in the pool quite a few of them had staple sticking directly up with a sharp point upwards which is dangerous The main bedroom ceiling started leaking on us when we were asleep in the middle of the week there It seems to be that this problem has been there for awhile because of the marks on the ceiling which were there since we arrived. We had to sleep in the bedroom directly above the aga so it was very hot and Ellis, see above regarding Windows not openable. We were not offered anything for the inconvenience or hassle

Its a beautiful house/manor. We really did love our stay and we all had one of the best weekends ever there for my sister's Hen Do. However we did find the pool looking a light shade of green and there were bugs in it and no net available to fish them out. We also found a bad leak in the smaller living room as well as a broken toilet seat upstairs in one of the bathrooms. The floors were pretty grimy, I don't think they've been mopped for a while as all our feet were coming out black by the time we went to bed on the first day. There was also a strange damp smell from a couple of the rooms. The bin situation was very confusing. We did the best we could and seperated some things but I'm not convinced we did it right. There were instructions to put all glass in a wheely bin that wasn't the big biffa bin. However, there wasn't a wheely bin in sight. So we left them all in a plastic box that was provided for rubbish. We also found some dirty crockery upon arrival, a couple of mugs and a bowl. The house however is beautiful, had a very rustic charm and the views are impeccable. You can see over a farm and the national park. The photos in the listing don't do it justice. There's also a lovely table and chairs outside for eating which isn't photographed but should be, that we used a few times. Overall, a lovely stay but definitely in need of a little more TLC.
