Haltwhisle nestles just over the Cumbrian border in Northumberland, but is only 10 miles east of the Cumbrian town of Brampton. The town itself is in the ‘geographic centre' of Great Britain and has a quirky mix of shops and restaurants, as well as an open air swimming pool. Hadrian's Wall is just 2 miles north or the village and has a large in tact part of the wall to explore, many visitors to the town are those walking Hadrian's Wall and most stop off en-route to soak up the towns atmosphere with traditional stone built houses. Believed to have been built 300 years before the Roman Wall, the Roman fort Vindolanda lies just south of Hadrian's Wall and is worth a visit if you are interested in a bygone era. The village is surrounded by rolling Northumberland countryside and the Lake District is under an hours drive away. The village lies on the Carlisle to Newcastle railway line, you can enjoy retail therapy at the shopping centres or a night at the theatre without the need to drive.
The Drapery is the perfect base for an overnight stop for those walking Hadrian's Wall, being on the Main Street, everything needed is on your doorstep. Celebrate your days milestones in the pub opposite, pop down to the local bakery for your morning croissants or take time out to enjoy the unique shops and cafes. The Drapery has 3 apartments, one on each of the 3 floors. The ground floor accepts 1 small well behaved dog, the first and second floor apartments each have window seats in the bay windows overlooking the Main Street, you can sit and watch the world go by or relax in the natural daylight with a good book.
The apartments have gas central heating and comprise: Open plan lounge/kitchen/diner with electric fire and TV. Kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and microwave. Double bedroom and en-suite shower room with hand basin and WC.
All electric, bed linen and towels provided. On street parking. Ground floor accepts 1 small well behaved dog.

A nice stay close to all of Hadrians walls main attractions and lots of walks. Property was clean and tidy with everything we needed. Parking nearby or on street after 6pm. Overall a well located and comfortable place to stay.
