The staff were super friendly, something I really appreciate when travelling on my own. The room was huge, the bed sheets and towels were clean and the bathroom was in good condition and clean. The hallway and stairs carpet was very dirty and stained. It’s a shame as it creates a bad impression as you walk to your room. It was great to borrow a plate and cutlery for my takeaway but I had to use a spoon and a plastic knife.

Friendly welcome, well appointed spacious room andcentrally located.

This locally run hotel provided an oasis after a full day of sightseeing. We received a warm welcome and were pleased at the bright clean spacious room that had all we needed. The laundry service was a welcome surprise!!

The fridge in our room was real bonus. Nearby use of microwave and toaster was icing on the cake! Great comfortable bed and as we travelled by train bus stop outside the hotel door was super for going to town centre.

Generally, everything. Old fashioned building with totally up to date rooms. Staff particularly helpful and loved being offered a hot drink any time I was waiting in the foyer! Well done Royal Ashdown.

A comfortable stay.

Quiet, even though the room was downstairs. The bed was comfortable and there was a good supply of tea/coffee. The door to the bathroom needs attention. It does not close easily, and when fully closed, it was extremely difficult to open it. The shower temperature was variable. The design of the bathroom needs attention.
