Thank you for your review, and for appreciating the apartment, its upkeep and the view. For future guests, a few words on the location. The apartment is in Perledo, a small village directly above Varenna. Its position is what gives it the view and the quiet, and many of our guests choose it for exactly that reason: close to Varenna and the lake, away from the crowds and the prices of the lakefront. By car and by bus, Varenna is just a few minutes away. Without a car, there are three main options. The local bus is not frequent, but it runs to a published timetable, so trips can be planned around it. In the evening, the council runs a free night bus; it can mean a wait, but it is a free service and a genuine help for residents and visitors. On foot, Varenna is about 30 minutes away along old cobbled stairs and paths, well lit and actually a pleasant walk in both directions. Taxis on the lake work by reservation, which is why we share contacts with our guests; they need to be booked ahead rather than called on the spot. Local transport could certainly be better, and there is always room for improvement. But Perledo is not isolated, and with a little planning before booking, guests have every option to enjoy both the village and the lake.
