Fast perfekt…

Thank you for your review and we're glad that you appreciated the many good things about the house, pool and location. I am concerned about the things that were not to your taste as, of course, our hope is that everyone will have a restful and enjoyable break. Three of the 5 beds and mattresses are actually new (less than 3 years old). It's possible the mattresses were not to your liking, but this is something of a personal choice; the mattresses we have vary from quite soft to quite firm. Your concerns are not ones that have been shared with us by other guests. It does get hot in the Beaujolais in the summer but the house is designed to stay reasonably cool, with shutters outside and electric fans in each bedroom. As with most houses in France, it's true, there is no air-conditioning. We review and check the house equipment at the start of each summer season and replace anything damaged or worn out. We still use the capsule coffee machine without any problems although it is, I accept, a fairly basic model. There is also a filter coffee machine. Overall, we're not aware of any problems with the cookware, although we have recently upgraded the frying pan.

My wife and I, although British, have spent the majority of our professional lives in a variety of locations outside the UK. We are both veterinary surgeons by training.

After many years living and working in France, along with other international postings, our children are grown and we are currently based in the UK and we rent our former family home for family holidays.

We love the Beaujolais area, a little-known gem often compared with Tuscany (but without the tourists). It's great for walking and cycling as well as, of course, eating and enjoyig the local wines.

Our house is very family friendly and we enjoy hosting families. More details on the property can be found on the Simply Owners site.

Why they chose this property

We have lived in the Beaujolais since 2008, having lived in France for around 20 years.

What makes this property unique

If you're looking for a tranquil environment in a beautiful rural setting, surrounded by vineyards, you'll enjoy your stay at Laval. Whether lying by the pool , enjoying an al fresco barbecue or dipping into the culture and history of the city of Lyon, 25km away, there's plenty to do, whether relaxing or exploring.
