Cefn Castell review
The view, of course. Spectacular.
The nearby beach. There are seals!
The house design. Most interesting (albeit occasionally perhaps a triumph of the aesthetic over the practical).
The location. We were well positioned to visit and discover lots of activities the area has to offer.
Primarily, fit curtains. Sleeping proved very difficult, and privacy was unnecessarily compromised (from within and without).
The long and bumpy off road track to the property became rather tiresome.
The absence of a downstairs toilet was, shall we say, an inconvenience.
Seating 6 in the sitting area would be tricky as 4 would need to sit side by side in a line.
The toilet in the back downstairs bedrooms would frequently not stop filling.
Some furniture on the balcony would be nice.

What a place, what a view, what a location!
If you want a simple place to stay (simple as in easy), not in town, but easy walking distance. A place that is simple to live in, with great services, furniture, kitchen equipment etc etc, then this is it.

Absolutely gorgeous place to stay over new year.
Surprising how much sun - but very welcome. Beautiful views. Lovely walks straight from the house. Nice selection of games, well equipped kitchen. There are no blindscurtains - which we knew before we arrived so we were ok with that, it is very private. But we were grateful for the screens which were available if wanted - especially when the low winter sun was shining right inside the living area. A really lovely house and location.

Magnificent architecture and location... needs a bit of TLC
The views, the privacy, the architecture, the very comfortable beds are all amazing at Cefyn Castell. We were also very grateful for the welcome pack supplied - milk, bread, snacks etc. It is a five to ten minute walk to the beach and we swam every day - the water was surprisingly warm. It's also a lovely 20 minute walk into Criccieth where you'll find the fantastic Castle Fish & Chip shop, the lovely sea front restaurant, Dylan's and Cadwaladers for great coffee and desserts. We loved our stay there and would love to return at some point.
It feels like the property isn't being brilliantly maintained and although very clean inside looked a bit tired and scruffy - especially some of the outside areas, plus exterior paintwork and some of the glass panels. Then a few interior maintenance bits - toilet roll holders hanging off walls, freezer needed defrosting, the side gate not working (the house key stuck in the lock!) We also had an unfortunate flying ant invasion in one of the bedrooms - but Finest Retreats were quick to respond. Some of the house/check out instructions also weren't very clear.
It does say in the description that the garden isn't necessarily secure for dogs or children, and there's a big drop to the beach below, but it looks like it wouldn't take too much effort to block off the small gaps that dogs or kids could get through? Just a thought.

This place is a gem and as spectacular as it looks in the images!!!
We had an amazing stay and will surely be coming back. We are already missing this amazing place and we can't wait to come back!
Just a couple of minor point to keep in mind that there are no curtains andblinds so it gets bright early in the bedrooms in the morning. There are no privacy issues as the property is completely secluded however. The farm road that leads to the property can be a bit challenging for sports cars with low ground clearance.

Lovely views
Fantastic location and surroundings. House is great and views are amazing particularly from upstairs. Peaceful place
As others have said the track leading to the house isn’t great and is very bumpy. A low car would struggle particularly after it has rained.
Blinds would make a big difference to quality and feeling secure. Otherwise everything is perfect. Worth a visit if not for the views alone.

Sublime Property
I cannot rate this property highly enough. The views from the property were simply amazing and having the coastal path literally on the doorstep was an added bonus. The property was well equipped and had a wonderful home from home feeling.
Nothing I can’t think of one negative.
