Casa Zazà is located in the Friulian Collio region, a hilly area stretching about thirty kilometres from Cividale to Gorizia, close to the Slovenian border. It’s accessible by car and, thanks to its gentle slopes planted with vineyards, also by bicycle—perfect for exploring the best wineries producing “Friulano,” “Malvasia,” “Ribolla,” and “Schioppettino” wines. The area also offers interesting walks along the Natisone River with its emerald waters, small karst canyons, and pebble beaches.
It is just:
- 3 km from Cividale del Friuli, the romantic town recognised as an UNESCO World Heritage Site for its rich archaeological evidence of the Lombard presence in Italy. Cividale, with its Devil’s Bridge—built entirely of stone in the mid-15th century—is also home to numerous bars, traditional restaurants, and taverns where you can savour local culinary specialities and wines;
- 20 minutes from Udine, the capital of the Friuli province, with its historic centre characterised by Venetian architecture. It is also located along the “Alpe-Adria” cycling route, which starts in Salzburg (A) and, after 410 km, arrives in Grado, an hour from Trieste, the city that still retains a Habsburg atmosphere in its architecture and in its Piazza Unità d’Italia, which is particularly evocative at dusk. Don’t miss a visit to Miramare Castle during the summer months—the former residence of Maximilian of Habsburg and Charlotte of Belgium;
- just 15 minutes from the Slovenian border.
