Cottage La Fagianaia

La Fattoria della Scheggia (The Shard) is a small 15th-century farming village and a typical example of grand ducal architecture. Renovated in the 1980s, it is a member of the Italian Association of Historic Residences. La Fagianaia is a stone house built on the foundations of a watchtower situated at the top of the hill overlooking the Tiber Valley and the expanses of woods that turn yellow with broom in the spring and take on the muted hues of autumn foliage in the fall.
La Fagiania began as a watchtower for Montauto Castle, was later converted into a small church, and was subsequently used as a shelter for animals.
In the 1980s, it was converted into a single-family home with three bedrooms: a master bedroom, the “Camera Rosa” with two single beds (which can be converted into a double), the “Cameretta Celeste” with two single beds, a bathroom, and a large living room with a separate kitchenette. Large private terrace with a splendid view of the Tiber Valley; a separate garden ensures privacy. Under a pergola covered in Virginia creeper, there is a table
for your dinners under the stars and a wicker sitting area for reading, enjoying the silence, and indulging in “idleness.”

A restaurant renowned for its traditional Tuscan cuisine is located just 300 m from the agriturismo.
Anghiari, a superb medieval village surrounded by imposing walls, is 8 km away. You’ll find all the shops, a pharmacy, a bank, a police station, an auto shop, and more.
Arezzo, a city renowned for its squares and churches, is located 20 km down the valley. Sansepolcro, once known as the “City of 100 Towers,” is situated in the Tiber Valley.
The museum featuring paintings by Piero della Francesca is extraordinary.
Its central location makes it the ideal base for your visits to the art cities of Tuscany and Umbria; in the Arno Valley: Cortona, Siena, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Pienza, Chiusi, etc.; in the Tiber Valley: Città di Castello, Gubbio, Assisi, and Perugia. And what about the Casentino region with its forests and monasteries!

All of this is less than an hour’s drive away. Florence is easily accessible by train from Arezzo without any crowding issues.
Don’t forget about shopping: the Mall outlet, known for the best Italian brands, is easily accessible via the A1 highway, taking the Incisa/Regello exit.
In Arezzo and Sansepolcro, you’ll find plenty of artisan shops and “Made in Italy” products. Don’t miss the Busatti store in Anghiari, with over 100 years of history producing fine fabrics for home decor and table linens.
