Barometer Cottage By the Water
About the Property
Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space. Barometer Cottage is a charming seaside retreat on Broughty Ferry’s historic Fisher Street. Perfect for up to four guests, this beautifully renovated cottage blends historic character with modern comforts, offering a welcoming base to explore Broughty Ferry, Dundee, and the Angus coastline.
The cottage takes its name from its seafaring past and the maritime traditions of Broughty Ferry. Once a thriving fishing village, Fisher Street was at the heart of the local fishing industry, with cottages like this one home to fishermen and their families. In 1859, a Fitzroy Storm Barometer was sent to the community to help predict the weather, and in 1881, its readings famously helped save the Ferry fishing fleet from disaster.
