Fangorn - a house in the woods with creek, surrounded by nature.
The accommodation is entirely at the guests’ disposal, secluded in the woods and accessible via a 300-meter walking trail. It consists of three interconnected rooms with wooden floors. The price is per person per night (or for a full day’s stay). The house, fully furnished with furniture, tools, and utensils, is nestled in the woods within the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, at the confluence of two streams flowing down from Mount Camicia (2,564 m) and Mount Prena (2,561 m), with two sources of drinking water nearby. The entire area is a mosaic of fields and woods that blanket the slopes of the mountain range, offering views of Gran Sasso d’Italia (2,912 m). A half-hour drive from home is the Campo Imperatore plateau, accessible in spring, summer, and fall! In winter, the road is closed but becomes ideal for snowshoeing, along with several trails in the surrounding area. There is a living room-kitchen at the entrance, with a fireplace, table, sideboard, refrigerator, and chairs. There is also a sink, a water tank with a pressure pump, and a sofa bed that can be unfolded as needed. Next is the bedroom with a closet and a double bed (with an electric blanket), and another room containing the wood-burning stove and, connected to it, the bathroom with a sink, toilet, and small bathtub with an electric water heater. There is a two-person bunk bed here. I can therefore comfortably accommodate 4 people. If needed, there’s a one-and-a-half-person sofa bed. I can share in all daily activities, including tending the vegetable garden, working in the woods, and caring for the animals, such as taking them out to pasture. I’ve been spending time in the mountains since I was a child, in all conditions and seasons, and I can guide you along the park’s trails, depending on the difficulty and your level of preparation and fitness. This ranges from simple, flat trails on dirt paths through the woods to climbs with elevation gain all the way to the summit. I am a certified and insured guide with AIGAE (Italian Association of Environmental and Hiking Guides).
The house is accessible only by trail and is located in the woods, on a mountainside slope. The location is ideal as a starting point for hikes, for people who truly love the mountains and nature. All the necessary clothing and gear for the mountains are essential, including warm clothing, thick socks, hiking boots (preferably high-top), hiking poles, rain gear, a backpack, and so on. High wellington boots are highly recommended!! Especially during the fall and winter months. You must remove your shoes before entering the house, so be sure to bring slippers!
