The bedrooms are furnished with comfortable queen or king beds and each is decorated with local themes
Plenty of hiking and fishing can be found right out the back door. In the winter, there are cross-country trails that can be accessed from our property. The Two Medicine entrance to Glacier Park is only a twenty-minute drive away, which boasts one of the most scenic lakes in the park. There are boat concessions, miles of hiking trails, and a historical camp store that is well stocked with park information, gear, and gifts. What a lovely stay - had 5 adults stay in Summit. The rooms are all comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with any cookware and utensils you could need to eat at home. Washing machine and dryer were a blessing and helpful to have two bathrooms. The views are just stunning - made it difficult to want to leave! The hosts were all so kinds - reachable any time and even had fresh scones to welcome us. We also had the host’s huckleberry carrot cake at nearby Serranos Mexican restaurant - sold out quick so order dessert first!

Wonderful mountain views

We arrived at night and waking up to the views out of the living room and property were awesome especially with the fireplace keeping us warm. The place was very clean, felt like home and just what we were hoping for. Highly recommend. We stayed here as a base camp for our East glacier trip and was perfect location.

Great property with great views. Enough grocery stores and restaurants within 10 minutes. Host was fantastic. Room was great. Hiking trail on property was nice. Convenient to Many Glacier and East side of Glacier which is much less busy than west side.

Lovely Condo

We had an amazing time at this beautiful East Glacier condo. The condo was very clean, with an awesome view. It was a little bit far from a well-stocked grocery store but we were prepared for that. Wish we could have stayed longer. Maybe another time!

Quiet and clean near East Glacier

Five family members stayed here as we visited the east side of Glacier National Park. Communication and check in /directions were easy and accurate. The home was clean and efficient. Close to Two Medicine, but an hour drive to Many Glacier area. We visited a wonderful Native American Museum in Browning. This would be a great place to stay with 3 or 4 different groups renting each condo.

Fabulous place to stay during your Glacier NP vacation

My entire family, 2 yr. old daughter included, loved our stay at Lone Elk. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable, and location wonderfully. Leslie was great as was her daughter in helping us out. Leslie and Carl clearly did not go cheap when designing their units as I have seen from time to time with other vacation rentals. The Lone Elk Lodge was really great, and I would recommend it to anyone going to GNP.

Wonderful place to stay!

Our family of 6 had a wonderful 5-night stay while exploring the east side of Glacier NP! We stayed in the upstairs Summit unit and were so thankful for the A/C since MT was having a heatwave in mid-July! The property was beautiful and the owners were very friendly! You could tell they took pride in what they do! We would definitely stay here again! Our only recommendation would be to wear bug spray if enjoying all of the yard games! We did not and the biting flies got us! Other than that, we had a great time!!

A must house to rent!!!

Overall one of the most complete, comfortable places we have ever rented. Start with this; all the beds were very comfortable. No old, worn out mattresses which is so important in a vacation. Kitchen was FULLY stocked, even fresh scones upon arrival. Grounds were so beautiful with all the flowers and numerous outdoor seating areas. The views were to die for and the hosts very accommodating and helpful before and during our stay. If we come back we are staying here!!!!

Good cabin & great location

Our family stayed a week (Sunday to Sunday) at the Summit cabin. Great location to access both the west and east side of GNP. Views from the cabin was astonishing. Cabin was well equipped for a weeks stay with plenty of room for our family (2 adults and 3 kids). However, it did have mice. We observed our first mouse on Monday morning (before we ever cooked in the cabin) running around in the kitchen. Then it sampled our sealed food (ketchup packs, bread in bag, cereal bar) located on the countertop on Wednesday. We contacted the hosts about the mice early Wednesday morning. They were out camping and didn’t have internet or phone access. Thursday morning they arrived back to the lodge and promptly set traps. A mouse was caught on both Thursday night and Friday night. Hosts said other residents of the lodge have not experienced mice and they were not sure how the mice were getting into the cabin. The Summit cabin is on the second floor. With the exception of the mice, everything would have been perfect.

Perfect!

All the comforts of home and more. We have stayed in VRBO units from Yosemite to Paris and a number of places in between. Lone Elk Lodge by far tops the list and raises the bar for future selections. The Property description and the pictures are right on the mark. Carl’s talents as a master woodworker are evident throughout. Furnishings are exquisite and we lacked for nothing during our stay. Leslie was so helpful on the phone prior to our visit and it was a pleasure meeting and speaking with Carl upon our arrival. Their hospitality can’t be beat (the scones were delicious Leslie) and it was nice knowing they were there for our help if we needed it but still respected our privacy. Had the pleasure of sharing a happy hour with our Atlanta neighbors on their deck below……….thanks for sharing your grilled fish Bob – it was excellent. We stayed in The Summit with a wonderful view of the mountains from the kitchen, living room and deck. Enjoyed watching the horses grazing - especially when two deer joined them for breakfast one morning. At first we wondered about the location but it’s perfect. The Two Medicine Entrance to Glacier is only a short drive away while getting to the other entrances is easy. Carl even gave us an alternative route to St. Mary and Many Glacier that avoided the traffic and winding roads. There are a number of nearby restaurants if you decide not to relax and enjoy the kitchen or the grill on the deck. The Glacier Park Trading Co. had at least one of everything we needed and then some. Can’t say enough good things about our stay…would never look elsewhere at Glacier.

We stayed here June 27th - July 1st and used this as our home base for the Vacation Races Glacier Half Marathon and exploring Glacier National Park, Kalispell, and Whitefish. Highly recommend! Clear communication, welcoming location, and beautiful scenery. We enjoyed the cozy living room and fully stocked kitchen. The beds were comfy and we enjoyed having the AC, as it was hot for Montana! Thank you for being apart of our once in a lifetime trip!

Beautiful secluded cabin

The cabin was in a secluded area with beautiful views of the mountains. The property had a nice little trail that walked along the train tracks that was actually very pretty. The cabin had plenty of room for the 7 of us. The family room and kitchen area were very cozy with windows facing the mountain view. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the evenings together talking, watching TV and enjoying the fireplace. The swing out back was absolutely beautiful with the wind chimes blowing right next to it. There were 4 cans of bear spray for the visitors which was so nice and convenient. Would definitely recommend this cabin and hopefully we will get to enjoy it again in the future.

About the host

Hosted by Carl and Leslie Haggar

Host profile image
Carl and Leslie Haggar have lived in East Glacier for over forty years. They love hiking in Glacier Park in the summer and skiing the nearby mountain trails in the winter. Carl is also an avid fisherman and hunter, and loves to share his stories about recreating in this beautiful country. They built a successful woodworking business, manufacturing wooden kitchen products, such as bread knives, cutting boards, and recipe boxes. They have since sold the business, but Carl continues to put his woodworking skills to work by creating cabinets and furniture for their vacation rental. They love to share their favorite haunts with their visitors, and are very knowledgeable about trails, streams, and lakes in the Glacier Park area.

What makes this property unique

The property is located in a beautiful rural setting, with a lovely little trail that goes to an active beaver pond, home to a variety of ducks and geese. There is world-class fishing nearby on the Reservation lakes, as well as in Glacier Park. The rental is very cozy and well stocked and provides a perfect ending to an adventure-filled day.
