The gite (wing of chateau) looked and sounded fabulous on the vrbo website and fully lived up to expectations. Accomation was great and the pool stunning. Our host Guy could not have been more helpful (which extended to an invitation to oysters and wine on his grand terrace).
The property is perfectly positioned for exploration of all that the area has to offer (A car is essential)

Château de Rouvignac
We spent a week at Château de Rouvignac in 2011 and can only recommend the place, especially to the parents with children. We enjoyed time outside in the wonderful park and swimming in the pool. Children can watch horses and donkeys. Interiors are very elegant; you have a lot of space. The beach is about 20 minutes by car; you can visit Carcassonne, Beziers, Montpellier and the other nice places. The owners speak English fluently and give tips.

Majestic landmark in the heart of Languedoc
The house is a magnificent, eccentric combination of antiquities and majestic spaces. The grounds are huge and great for children. Dogs, donkeys and a horse enhance the countryside experience. Guy is a great, non-intrusive host who speaks perfect English. Good pool. Well equipped, although small kitchen. Bedrooms and bathrooms charming and functional. Location very convenient, short 2 km walk to nearest village with small shops, 15 minute drive to Beziers.

The most wonderful place on earth
When we saw the photos on the Website, we thought this must be a fake. But when we arrived we couldn't believe that this place is much more beautiful than these photos. We stayed here, two families, and it was absolutely fantastic. The rooms are great. The view is great. The pool is great. The owners are extremely nice. I still don't understand why I left this place. It's paradise on earth.

Exceptional place
We have now stayed 3 times at Chateau de Rouvignac in the past 6 years and it remains a fantastic experience. Constance and Guy (the owners) are adorable and do all they can to make you feel at home in their little - well not so little actually - piece of paradise. Our children (12, 11, 7 and 4) love to play in the 2ha large parc/garden and in the large pool. There is plenty of space in the Chateau and the rooms, although having all modern amenities, transpire authenticity and gives one the impression that time stopped 50 years ago. Rouvignac is great for relaxing amidst the "grillons" and vinyards, but it is also a perfect basis for sightseeing around. There is a lot of culture to be found in the vicinity (the Romans and Cathars were there), Molière lived in Pesenas and Carcassonne is not far away. For those who prefer nature, there are many tracks & paths for walks and there is a big natural reserve some kilometers north. The beach, (and Guy can tell you the best spots to go to) is only ten - fifteen minutes away by car.
There is a bakery and several supermarkets only 2 - 3 miles down the road, so catering is easy too. Guy and Constance also willingly share their secrets about the finest restaurants in the neighbourhood. For those who need to check their emails regularly : no problem, there is Wifi upstairs. In the 4 weeks we have spent there in total we maybe had 2 days of intermittent rain. All other days, it was sunny and warm. We will sure return visit our friends Guy and Constance and stay at their perfect holiday rental !

Château de Rouvignac
A charming place to stay in the South wing of a Chateau steeped in history, comfortable and interesting but maybe not the place for you if you do not like dogs as the owner who lives in another part of the chateau has two reasonably friendly dogs.
The accommodation is well placed to explore the South West of France: the beaches, sites and national park with all its attractions.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and would recommend this place.
