Let’s start with the positives. The property is in a very quiet rural hamlet of around 15 houses, so if you want to get away from it all, this definitely delivers. It’s a good size for 4 adults and the parking is excellent. Now for the negatives…Communication from the host was impressively limited. I messaged asking if there was a cafeteron site. Still waiting for a reply. Spoiler: there isn’t one.Wanting to sweep the floor proved surprisingly ambitious. No broom, and the hoover had no charge and, helpfully, no charger. The washer/dryer was equally entertaining, with the dryer function being about as useful as a chocolate teapot. As we couldn’t dry clothes outside, we spent 40 on an airer from Tesco. Sorry future guests, but we took it home. The handwritten guide mentioned wood was available from the “garage”. Naturally, we assumed the property garage. Apparently not. Where this mystery garage actually is remains unsolved, so off to Tesco we went again. No recycling instructions were provided, so everything went into the general waste. I’m sure the environment is thrilled. There was mould in the bathroom, filthy door frames, no air freshener, and the bathroom door desperately needed WD-40. The mattresses also really need replacing. We weren’t expecting a fully stocked kitchen, but salt and pepper would have been nice.Overall, lovely peaceful location with plenty of potential, but the lack of communication, basic amenities, cleanliness and maintenance really let it down.
