Unique Ski/Mountain Apartment In Grounds Of 18th Century Chateau with new pool

The ideal family (4 people ideal) location for winter and summer activities set in stunning mountainous scenery. This modern and recently renovated apartment is set up for our family, and has everything that you require for a comfortable stay. Big selling points are the football sized lawn and the patio, from which you enjoy amazing uninterrupted and private views of the Ariege mountains. The 12 m swiming pool sits in 1 hectare of parkland. The cosy bedrooms are mezzanine, and the beds are very comfortable. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed, and the other bedroom has two singles (and a futon). Downstairs we have a sofa bed for those extra guests. The kitchen is very modern and set up for fine dining. We have a large bath and shower in the modern bathroom, which has a separate toilet.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Absolutely fabulous property, so beautiful inside and out with neighbours who were super friendly and very helpful about local places to visit. The property was spacious, well furnished with comfortable beds and seating areas and excellent eating areas. Lots to do in the local area, we particularly enjoyed the village night market and fetes as well as the local hiking, chateau, and kayaking on the river. Thank you Colin for lending us your lovely appartment and special thanks to George and Wilam who made us feel so welcome.

More than lovely

We had a more than lovely stay. We enjoyed the pool and the garden every day. The appartement is very complete and comfortable. Perfect place to discover the Pyrenees. Unfortunately we couldn’t stay longer, we still had more to discover. Good reason to come back!

Séjour Estivale

Nous sommes restés 1 semaine ( fin juillet 2023). Immense parc de verdure, logement avec chambres à l’étage desservies par un escalier en colimaçon. Grande salle de bain avec baignoire / douche. Logement traversant avec de grandes porte-fenêtres donnant sur le parc. Très grande piscine mais très fraîche même quand il fait très chaud !! Côté localisation : Très calme. Tres proche de Ax et de ses stations / randonnées et GR. 45 min pour atteindre le pas de la case ( randonnées ou ski selon saisons) Accès aux centres touristiques, très facile ( Foix, Musée régional de la préhistoire, Grottes…. ). A faire : Maison LACUBE sur la place des Cabannes , 5 min du gite à pied , pour découvrir la gastronomie du terroir. A réserver pour un très bon séjour !!

Au calme

Un séjour excellent. L'espace est très bien organisé, les hôtes très accueillant, merci pour le cadeau d'accueil :o) Ce qui manque peut-être c'est de pouvoir isoler au niveau de la lumière l'espace chambre de la grande pièce, le soir (ou la nuit) lorsque quelqu'un souhaite rester en bas, ou si besoin de se lever la nuit. Mais hormis cela tout est bien. Le jardin est très agréable, la situation près des pistes de ski, des commerces et des lieux à visiter.

Charming, comfortable and convenient. The perfect base for our Pyreneean adventure.

Stepping into this charming apartment, we knew we had our own sanctuary, with its vaulted ceilings, spiral staircase and beautiful view of the gardens and swimming pool. Despite the 39° heat, it was cool indoors, we could relax straightaway. We enjoyed gentle walks around the nearby picturesque villages, and planned our short drives to Ax Les Thermes and Tarascon for the Tour de France. We saw the stunning mountaintop views in Ax Trois Domain and above the apartment at Plateau de Beille and went further afield to Foix, Andorra and Spain. A three-minute-walk down to the centre of Les Cabannes took us to the tourist office where very friendly staff recommended trips and places to eat. We ate very well at the two restaurants in the town square and at the cafe in the delightful boulangerie patisserie next to the post office. The walk to the pool, down the steps and through the trees, had the Chateau de Gaudanes as a marvellous backdrop, The swimming pool saved us from the intense heat, which topped 40° when we visited. The kitchen had everything to hand which made meal prep very easy and dining outside on the patio made for special family time. The welcome pack was very thoughtful and there were plenty of games, books and DVDs. The apartment was very comfortable; the beds in particular, we all slept very well and there was constant hot water for baths and showers. We will definitely book this apartment next summer and really hope it will be available when we know our dates. We can't wait to go back - it made our holiday.

Tout super. L'appartement est génial, les lits comfortables, grande salle de bain avec les toilettes fermées. Cuisine bien équipée (pas de lave-vaiselles) et tout très agréable. On a eu un séjour parfait. Le jardin est aussi très beau et le midi on y peut déjeuner même en hiver. Très ensoleillé. Voiture garée just devant la porte. Très pratique. Merci beaucoup. Super environnement

L'appartement est dans un environnement de rêve. Nous y étions en hiver mais je suis sure qu'en été c'est top aussi. Grand espace extérieur dans une nature préservée. L'appartement est bien achalandé : cuisine équipé, jouets, livres, DVD, cd, jeux extérieurs.

Appartement bien situé, environnement calme et très agréable. Par contre, pas assez de lumière dans la pièce à vivre et les plombs ont souvent sauté. Manque de propreté dans la pièce à vivre (toiles araignée, housses de canapé sales, poussières ...) mais très bonne literie. Nous avons cependant passé un bon séjour.

Lieu magnifique pour des vacances en famille reposantes

Beau logement plein de charme dans un parc permettant aux enfants de jouer en toute tranquillité, sans oublier les plaisirs de la piscine entièrement clôturée. Beaucoup de lieux d'intérêt autour (Parc de la Préhistoire, grottes, radonnées...) Je reviendrai certainement! Un tout petit bémol pour la propreté mais c'est à chacun de laisser propre derrière soi!! .

We love our mountain activities just as much as love our reading days sitting on the patio. We have been coming here for over 20 years, and we have come to love this magical Cathar retreat.

Why they chose this property

This is a very special place for family outdoor holidays, or just for getting away from it all. We've gone to an effort to make the apartment comfortable and well equipped for a relaxing visit.

What makes this property unique

Caves, Cathar castles, the train to Toulouse or Spain, good local ski resorts, proximity to Andorre and Spain, good access to a number of airports, great mountain huts for food and accommodation when hiking, GR10 is close by. Our new 12m pool, with amazing views was commissioned in July 2019. The 16 appartments are situation in the outbuildings of Chateau de Gudannes.
