The view of the lake was the best, with beautiful sunrise, sunset & even a double rainbow one day! The cottage had everything we needed. The hosts were very accommodating, friendly and helpful.
We had a perfect stay at Twin Pines. The only downside was not having enough time to just relax at the cabin, which was just as enjoyable as all of the nearby sites!
This cottage is everything you need for a fun stay in Ithaca. The location is perfect - between state parks and town. The cottage is so cozy (I don’t mean small, just cozy). Owners were amazingly responsive and kind. Thanks for a fabulous anniversary weekend!
We had another great week at Twin Pines (five years running!) The house was clean and had everything we needed, the private beach and floating dock were perfect for our needs. We hope to come back next year!
Away from it all but close enough to go into Trumansburg or Ithaca. Great view of the Cayuga Lake, which we would have spent more time on if the weather had cooperated. Great base for exploring the regions multitude of waterfalls and hiking trails. Well equipped and comfy. Hosts were communicative and helpful.
We enjoyed our time at the cottage. Very homey, quiet and great views from the bedroom. We went in early May so the properties next to us were empty. Outside of Ithaca but 10 minutes to town. We took our small dog with us who loved the lake. We would love to go back there again.
We (2 adults, 11 year old child and a dog) stayed at Twin Pines for a long weekend (3 nights) and it was lovely. The cottage is cozy and located beautifully on Cayuga Lake, and a 20 minute drive from Ithaca. The hosts, Ed and Dennis are very helpful and kind, showed us around the property and gave us good local recommendations for our stay. Would return again if in the area! Thank you!
This property is well maintained and provided us with the perfect place for our annual trip to the Finger Lakes. We loved the proximity to sites like the Falls and Ithaca. The cottage has great views in every room! There is plenty of room for a family of 4 or 6 to spread out and relax! The lake are was private and had ample space. We would stay here again in the future!
The cottage is full of personality and charm with lovely views of the lake. The location was perfect for our touring around the Finger Lakes and for quiet mornings and relaxing evenings. You need a vehicle that can navigate a rocky driveway and legs that can handle lots of steps.
The location was lovely and quiet but still so close to everything. Ed is a wonderful host. Kitchen had everything we needed. Shoreline fire pit and cabana were a surprise treat. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return. Thank you Ed & Dennis!

We just could not get enough of the views and the vibe of the lake house. We were outside most of the time just taking it all in.
Our dog also had a blast… a great jumping point to explore the area.
We will be back!

Beautiful spot- stairs to the beach a challenge, but knew that going in. Plenty of information left about places t visit & things to do. Didn’t realize before we got there that Ithaca and the small town of Trumansburg were kind of it.
Owner was delightful and helpful.
We planned a shirt getaway to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Could not have picked a better place! The day we were to arrive awful weather was expected and the owner graciously allowed us to arrive early, so we avoided the stress of traveling through terrible storms. The place has both rustic charm and impeccable taste. I know the owners did not create the nature and view but it was awesome! Can hardly wait to return again.

About the host
Hosted by Dennis Stein
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I've called Ithaca and the bountiful Finger Lakes region home for the last 30 years. Living in downtown Ithaca, I greatly enjoy the contrast between the vibrant urban downtown and the peaceful, wide-open vistas around the lakes. My co-owner Ed, also a transplant who takes inspiration from the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes region, has lived in downtown Ithaca with his family even longer.
Why they chose this property
Twin Pines is a cozy cottage that guests regularly describe as very welcoming, homey, and complete with amenities to maximize comfort and experience . (See the numerous reviews.)
When the cottage went on the market in 2006, the seller shared that because of the sheer beauty of the view, several potential out-of-area buyers expressed plans to tear down the cottage and replace it with a much larger contemporary house.
We decided to buy the building so that its simple beauty and great view of the lake could be preserved and enjoyed by friends, vacationers and guests alike.
What makes this property unique
Twin Pines is replete with original architectural details. Some of the furnishings are handmade, and the front door was crafted by Mary Shelley, a renowned local woodworking artist in Ithaca.
We happily feature the original work of other local and regional artists.
