OCEANVIEW Salvo - Colony Drive - For a relaxing vacation that’s filled with sound and ocean views, steer into JAKE’S WAKE. Stroll down to the beach or relax outdoors by the sparkling private pool or in the private hot tub. Kick off the flip flops and step inside to unwind in the first level game room with wet bar with refrigerator and microwave, foosball, and home theater system. Nearby is a convenient full hall bath, and two bedrooms: one with a king bed, and one with a pyramid bunk with trundle. The second level features three more bright and cheerful bedrooms, including two queen bedrooms that share a full bath, and a king master bedroom that steps out to a breezy deck. Upstairs, enjoy the top-level great room with a home theater system, quiet dining area, and step outside the door access to the spacious deck that showcases an ocean view and gorgeous sunsets over the sound. With lovely furnishings and decor, it’s easy to leave your worries far behind with a vacation at JAKE’S WAKE.

New for 2024: The chef of the group will delight when they see the updated kitchen. The top-level great room has new seating including sofas and chairs. The ground-level bunk room has a new double mattress to sink into after a day of fun under the sun.

Wonderful stay

The host was very involved and was in contact quite a bit. They came and took the trash cans out and back up without anyone noticing. We loved that it was dog friendly but didn’t have the smell or hair from other animals. Great stay overall

Wonderful week

My husband and I had a wonderful and restful week! We really enjoyed the hot tub for relaxing each evening. Was definitely different visiting the beach in the ‘off season’ but just what we needed to force us to relax and enjoy our time. The house was perfect! We cooked dinner two nights and breakfast every day, and had everything we needed. Unfortunately it was too cool to enjoy the pool…..but it was as nice to look at! Would definitely stay again!

The drive was long, so we were anxious to get into the house, check-in was 4pm, but we didn't get in until closer to 5pm - the rental agents were not helpful or friendly. Loved our visit. One issue: VRBO needs to be explicit about needing to bring your own bed linens and towels. Your description even tauts how your cleaning process makes sure towels are properly clean leading one to think they are included. We had to drive 1/2 hour to purchase bed linen and towels that we easily could have brought from home. Word to the wise

Jakes Wake

The house was roomy and the furnishings were suitable. There could be some updates made but generally a fine place to stay. The pool was fine but cold-it just opened this week and had not had a chance to heat up. Hot tub was good and worked fine. The house is right off the main highway and if you kept the windows open for the breeze it could get a little loud with the traffic.

Just ok

It was fine. Not the cleanest place I’ve ever stayed. We had to wash some of comforters before my kids would sleep in the beds cause they were gross. The area was great! We love Salvo just not this house so much. It has good potential if the cleaning was better.

Nice property

The house is very spacious and they did a good job with making sure you need basically everything you’ll need. The bedroom with bunk beds was pretty dirty, crumbs all over the top bunk which told me it probably wasn’t changed. One of the beds upstairs also had pee stains so we just bought blankets and pillows. Overall a really nice property just think they need to work on the cleaning aspect of it.

Age 2 to 57 we all enjoyed

It's a beautiful house. Because of the weather we couldn't use the pool more than once. But enjoyed the hot tub a lot. Spacious enough for our big group too. This is our 3rd trip to BOX. First two time we stayed northern part of it. Staying at the south end is very different than that. Northern part is more commercial. Enjoy the nature more here. I give 4 star instead of 5 for location just because it's not on the beach. Beach is pretty close though. Will love to come back to this house. But next time will come in summer, not in April.

We had a great time! House could have been a bit cleaner only reason of saying this. There was dog fur still in our linens but the company was extremely fast on getting my wife and I new linens asap! Also grass was pretty long when we arrived. The. First full day the company called us to ask if everything was decent. We asked for the lawn to be mowed due to the long grass and again they had a company out asap. We would def recommend the company/ house otherwise

Nice property but needs improvements.

The home was nice and plenty of space. I recommend area rugs to get some sound control, very loud home you hear every footstep. The home was clean upon arrival except the floors so I would suggest more attention to the floors. Not a fan of bringing our own linens and towels. The beach wagon is broken and I called to get a replacement but no response. Overall a nice property but needs attention.

Great family spot

We loved our stay at Jake’s Wake! The house was clean. The pool and hot tub was awesome! The walk to the beach is a bit difficult if you have a bunch of stuff because it is all sand and up a pretty steep dune, but the road access is just a few miles down the road, and there is a nice boarded walkway. The house is nice, but could use some updates. There are new owners of the property and I think they have plans to do some updating. There are a lot of stairs, like most OBX homes, so if someone has limited walking ability it may not be the best option. The check in process was awesome! It was all done on line and there was no need to go to a management company location to pick up keys because it was a keyless entry. We really enjoyed our stay and would consider retiring in the future!

The house was beautifully dirty . Upon arrival I had to wash the blankets on the bed , the pillows an other blankets were thrown in the closets on the floor. Also there were used bars of soap an all the lamp light bulbs we had to replace. We were inconvenienced from the beginning an nothing was offered for compensation. We were are also evacuated the 3rd day of arrival after a 10 hour drive from New York again nothing offerd for compensation. The weather stayed well till Friday . My family an I missed out on our family vacation. WASTE OF MONEY AN TIME !!!!! Disappointed all around !!!

Maynor, we feel just awful that your family had this experience! Please know that if you had called and let us know of any of these issues we would have been happy to come out and remedy them right away! We notified housekeeping so that they could do a thorough inspection of the home to be sure it is in good shape for incoming guests. We understand how disappointing it is when you anticipate your vacation, save for it, pack, travel and arrive, only to be told to evacuate. We don’t like to see our guests leave early. We want everyone to enjoy their stay. We do recommend the purchase of travel insurance at the time reservations are booked. Travel insurance provides coverage for unfortunate events such as these. We remind guests about the travel insurance when they sign their lease agreement which states our policy on hurricanes and evacuations. Unfortunately, travel insurance to cover a storm is no longer available for purchase after it is named a hurricane. We apologize if we have conveyed any sense of disregard for your situation. It was entirely unintentional and we hope that any future trip you take to Hatteras Island is a pleasant one.

Absolutely wonderful

The house was clean. The view on the top deck was excellent. Short walk to the beach. The fenced in pool with a bit of grassy area was perfect for our dog. Loved the quiet neighborhood. We had a little rain one day so the sheltered hot tub was great. Can’t wait to back.

No ocean view

We couldn't find an ocean view. House was clean and spacious, lots of closets. Sunsets were amazing. The walk to beach was a bit long and difficult. Our stay was cut short with hurricane Ian coming at us but we did enjoy our stay. Our first time to OBX.

Nice property. Had a great time. The only problem was the lawn in the back, around the pool, was not mowed. We could not play some lawn games in that area because of that.

Worth it a piece of heven at Jake's Wake

Beautiful sunrise day's on beach , and sunsets on the sound in the evenings jacossie was awesome , quite refreshing to cool down in the pool for the ones brave enough to jump in lol , We even drove on the beach and fished it was a lot of fun , just a heads up though , there are requirements for the vehicles ,permit ,some basic safty equipment for the vehicle ,I purchased the annual one because I'm planning on coming back real soon. I've enjoyed the house plenty of room for my party I've recommended it to my boss and friends

Beautiful place.

The house was beautiful, in a good location, very nice pool and hot tub. In the process of everything before our stay I was unsure of bringing our dog and had to change the lease multiple times. the deposit was instantly have back both time I changed my mind they answered my calls and question. super friendly wonderful people. OBX vacation

As others have stated in their reviews, this house is not clean in general and the cleaning crew did not do their job to clean up from the previous tenant. There were dead bugs on the floor, crumbs on the counters, dirty throw rugs, items left by the prior occupants including a glass full of cigarette butts on the balcony railing. Also the broken furniture that others remarked about is still present even though there is brand new outdoor furniture on the upper balcony. That being said, the house was big enough to comfortably accommodate our large group of five adults and six children and we never felt cramped. It was wonderful to have our own pool and the hot tub. We tried to rent a golf cart but were told they are not allowed in this community. However, there is good proximity to the beach, perhaps a five minute walk. It could be a great house with a good cleaning job and some fresh paint on the walls.

There were several issues - overall cleanliness was poor very dirty - cockroaches,

Very dirty- cockroaches all over , pool light broken, exposed switch to pool light and flood light( dangerous) garbage left from previous rent tenant - overall over priced for many issues

Great Experience

Beautiful home in a great location. Pool was very well maintained. Cleaning Service left a dirty rug and microwave behind when we arrived. Otherwise everything was clean.
