About this property
Private Waterfront Cottage on Lac des Roches
Our private waterfront cottage is set on 1 acre with 100’ of south facing shoreline on Lac des Roches. It features all the comforts of home and is newly renovated and decorated in rustic mountain décor. The highlights of the property are the large deck overlooking the lake and mountains and the large floating dock where you can enjoy the mountain lake setting. Our cottage is located on Lac des Roches, which is along the “fishing highway” on the edge of British Columbia’s Caribou Region. It’s an easy 5 hour drive from Vancouver or 8 hours from Edmonton. Our cottage is accessible on a quiet paved service road just off highway 24. Lac des Roches is a crystal clear lake set amongst mountains and forests. The area is well known for fishing and our lake are deep and clear so is great for swimming and watersports. The area offers a variety of activities including fishing, hiking, canoeing, bird watching, boating, swimming, golfing, rafting, horse back riding, biking, and ATVing. Wells Gray Provincial park is located just 40 mins away with and abundance of activities and featuring several beautiful waterfalls. Our cottage is located on the south facing shore of Lac des Roches and most mornings start with the sun shining on beautiful crystal clear calm water. Coffee on the large private floating dock just a few steps away from the cottage is a peaceful way to start the day with the quiet sounds of nature. There is very little water traffic on our lake and no development on the opposite side, so the only view is of natural forest and shoreline across the lake. The dock and the water is a great way to spend the day. The lake is great for swimming, watersports, fishing or exploring the many bays and secluded shorelines. Our outdoor firepit at the edge of the lake is a highlight for spending the evening relaxing while watching and listening to the sounds of the lake. Loons often call and most evenings, you can see the moon rising over the mountains and reflecting on the lake. Our large deck overlooking the mountains and lake to the south is a great place to relax and features an outdoor patio dining set and barbeque. Our large floating dock is great for swimming and relaxing and can provide secure moorage for larger boats. Water access to launch boats is provided at the Eagle Island Resort or Peaceful Cove Resort for a fee. Boat trailers can be stored along the service road at our cottage entrance. The inside of our cottage is newly renovated and offers all the comforts of home in a rustic mountain décor. Inside finishing features hickory hardwood and slate tile flooring, solid maple cabinets, a wood burning fireplace and large windows offering an expansive view of the surrounding environment. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, fridge, oven, stovetop and sink. The bathroom feels like a spa with its slate tile on the floor and walls and a comfortable claw foot bathtub to relax in. Each bedroom has a comfortable queen bed and window. Our cottage also includes a clothes washer and dryer.

The cabin was as depicted - even better, as it was immaculately clean, and the decor truly lovely, harmonious, and well suited to the setting. The lakeview was stunning, the surroundings quiet, the kitchen well stocked. Great selection of games, and we were so taken with the views of the lake and woods when walking down the quiet local road, and the beauty of the home itself, that we never felt need to turn on the tv. Darcy/host was supportive and responsive - just the right mix of checking in to make sure all was well and then letting us enjoy our time there. Nothing but gratefulness for the time...

We enjoyed our stay at this great spot on the lake. It’s a well appointed cabin with plenty of places to relax, and a well stocked kitchen to make it a comfortable home away from home for a few days. Darcy was responsive and clear in his communications and the house instructions were all very clear and easy to follow. Visits from Bruce (the dog from next door) were an unexpected bonus!!

My family of 4 LOVED every minute of our stay. Darcy is super kind and sent us a bunch of tips on easy boat rental (literally next door) and how to catch fish and offered us any help/tips to make our stay extra special. Swimming in the lake, jumping off the dock, fishing, relaxing playing cards, bbq'ing on the beautiful deck and gazing at the stars. My 5 year old son and 1 year old daughter loved biking/walking near by and we spotted deer, woodpeckers and many chipmunks. It is truly a beautiful lake, comfortable and perfectly equipped cabin (having a proper washer and dryer with little ones is top tier) in the most serene part of BC we've ever been to. We are already planning our return. 10/10 recommend over and over again!! Thank you Darcy!!!!

Enjoyed a delightful family vacation. Spacious and fully equipped cottage with dishwasher, washer and dryer, barbecue, and attendant inviting decor. The spacious deck has a table where we enjoyed meals overlooking the lake. There is an extensive dock with ladder for swimming. The waterfront fire pit with chairs was a hit for wiener roast. As first timers to des Roche we appreciated a friendly neighbors suggestions and enjoyed a hike at nearby bridge lake. Grandson caught his first rainbow, his sister didn’t want to leave Our host was helpful and direct. Overall this place is a gem, would hope to return.

We really enjoyed our stay, the area is fantastic for fishing, kayaking and hiking and the home is a great base for exploring Wells Gray park. The cabin was well equipped and very clean, there are fantastic views from inside the cabin or at the private dock. Our family had a great time here.

The property was absolutely stunning. The dock is beautiful, the deck is outstanding and the house is the cutest, best laid out floor plan. We absolutely loved staying here.
Excellent property right on the lake with boat rentals available next door if you don’t bring your own. The house was well-appointed and we didn’t want for anything during our stay. Would definitely stay again.
It was the perfect setting for a reunion with my brother and sister in law from Australia. From the moment you step inside and see how the tastefully done and inviting interior complements the beautiful lakes views, you know you're in for a memorable stay. This is a gem.
We had an amazing time. Just love relaxing by the lake, roasting hotdogs by the fire, and playing board games at the table in the evenings. This was a beautiful vacation stay.

Our stay here was absolutely amazing! The cottage was clean and beautifully decorated with unique touches. We really enjoyed the lake and swam everyday. Thank you so much, Darcy!!
This was the perfect getaway for my friend and I with our kiddos, the cabin was spacious and stocked with everything you need! The host was very accomodating and friendly. I would definetly stay here again and would recommend it to friends and small families.
We had a fantastic stay, we loved the house, the dock, the lake… The lake is super clear, great for swimming. It was the highlight of our big Canadian trip, and that is saying something. We also loved the neighbour (and his dog Bruce). Very friendly, helping us out with everything. I would REALLY recommend staying at this house.
The cabin is clean, quiet, well-stocked and has a magnificent views. There is no internet and we had very limited cell phone reception, which gave us plenty of time to fish, hike and read. Great trip!!

I bought this property in 2010 after falling in love with the area. Since buying it, I have completely renovated the cottage and have added a huge deck and floating dock. My friends and family (2 teen-aged daughters) enjoy all that the area has to offer including boating, watersports, atv'ing, snowmobiling, fishing, exploring, fires by the lake and the quiet wilderness surrounding.
