This luxury vacation home is perfect for your family and friends, offering nearly 3800 square feet of living space with plenty of spots to find "peace and quiet" or to gather for quality time. The huge deck, with a covered area below, spans the entire back of the home.
Ideal for two families with kids, a ladies' getaway, a guys' fishing trip, or a romantic retreat, this home features a fantastic yard, spectacular lake views, a chef-stocked kitchen, stylish interior decor, and a selection of DVDs for evening entertainment. We love it, and so will you!
Located on a 1-acre point lot overlooking the Main Lake, you'll have plenty of space for outdoor games when you need a break from the water. The newly rebuilt double boathouse is open for your boat or jet skis, and the dock includes a sundeck and outdoor table. You can find public boat docks to drop your boat in (http://www.lakegastonguide.com/?q=node/1378).
Water Toys: We provide 5 kayaks, a canoe, and 2+ paddleboards for your use at your own risk. Bring your life vests, though we have various sizes available at the house. There's a wide cove to explore and a safe spot for swimming, with water 4-5 feet deep off the dock. Kids might like water shoes since they can touch the bottom.
Off the Water: Enjoy your time on and off the water with evening options like yard games, BBQ with our charcoal grill, chilling by a fire pit in Adirondack chairs, gourmet kitchen supplies, TVs in all rooms, a huge selection of DVDs, XBOX 360, Air Hockey, Ping Pong, Basketball, biking, and more. There's also an outdoor basketball hoop if you want to grab a ball.
All TVs are Smart TVs, so you can log in to your accounts.

Boat Lift Information:
Two aluminum ladders to enter and exit the water. One ladder has gradual stairs with handles to help the grandparent's knees. The jet ski lift will accommodate two jet skis. We have another open bay with no lift. The experts recommended that another boat be stored and tied inside the open bay. Please drop the bumpers from your boat onto sides and tie your boat to the four posts for stability. You can also tie boats to the dock in couple spots.
Use of dock and lift is at your own risk.

The house is located in a great neighborhood at the end of a culdesac. The neighborhood is called Tangle Oaks. We have a quiet private drive with plenty of parking space.
Linens: Linens (Kitchen and Bathroom Towels, All Sheets, Pillows and Extra Bedding) are available for an additional fee of $100. Please bring your own beach towels.
Pets: We are pet friendly and still considering whether to accept all pets. Pets need to be approved and are subject to an additional fee of $250.
Firewood: Let us know if you want us to have wood delivered for use during your stay. Otherwise, please bring some. You will love to have the fire pit going at night.
Boat Rentals: We have a relationship with a few local options to rent boats. Please let us know who to introduce you to...
Biking/Running: I recommend that you leave our neighborhood and run or bike to the left. The kids love checking out the farms with cows and horses. There are a few great neighborhoods at the end of the street that are quiet and perfect for a run or bike ride.

We've visited lakes, ocean, mountain and rivers. We checked out cabins in West Virginia, Lake Anna, Deep Creek, mountains, Asheville, NC, Florida, the Outer Banks and so on. We fell in love with Lake Gaston and everyone we met. It is close to family and friends, really clean, not busy - even on the busiest of days and super friendly.

Why they chose this property
The home is located in a quiet, upscale neighborhood. It is on a safe street at the end of the culdesac. The entrance to the property is very pretty and the home has a fantastic yard. There is room for your kids private baseball/football field... or plenty of room for tents to host a fantastic party/wedding/reunion.

What makes this property unique
The Lake:
The Lake is really clean. The lake traffic is always pretty quiet, even on July 4th. You can safely float and swim by the dock without hesitation.
The 1 acre Yard:
The yard was a huge selling point for us. We wanted plenty of space to play football on Thanksgiving, bring the baseball team down for some whiffle ball, play various outdoor games and have room for the dog to roam.
The Views:
The view of the main lake and a very open cove to the left is perfect. The sun sets in perfect view on the other side of the lake.
The Neighborhood:
I preferred to be in a neighborhood - where we could bike or borrow a cup of milk. The house is surrounded by nice homes, yet offers plenty of privacy.
The Interior Space:
The home is really nice, plenty big and open for everyone to find quiet or gather for a party. I am still decorating, but I think it looks great and feels like a home that is loved rather than ... some that we rented. This is important to me, b/c we want to use it year round. I also don't want to care about being stuck inside for a storm. We continue to add stuff to make it fun for everyone - year round.
The Boathouse:
The double boathouse meets short term needs to store the jet ski and a pontoon ... and store/launch paddle boards, kayaks, rafts, etc. Longer term - we need to turn it into more of an entertaining space and give it some love. That will come.
The Location:
The house is located on the South Side of the lake. It is pretty close to Roanoke Rapids off Route 95. It is an easy drive from DC, but also easily accessible from 85 for our friends coming up from Raleigh.
