We enjoyed our stay. The property was just right for the two of us.
We loved our stay here at Twin Lakes. What a great cabin! We loved the charm, history and little town. We had a great time ice fishing, hanging by the fire, playing games and soaking up the fresh air. We’ll be back for sure this summer! Thanks!
We enjoyed our stay! Beautiful view from the house, walking distance from General store, restaurant, and food trucks. The Lakes are very close. A nice relaxing stay. Thank you!
Cozy home minutes away from the lake, walking distance to a warm meal and drinks, store ( summer months ) and a priceless view. Would definitely stay again.
We stayed one night and really enjoyed the space. Cute and clean and a short walk to the Inn for dinner. We all enjoyed the views from the front porch.
We stayed here for the Leadville 100 Run and it couldn't be a more convenient location. House was just as described and the host made the check in process very easy. Thank you!
We enjoyed staying at the bungalow for hiking, closeness to town, the General Store and dinner at the Twin Lakes Inn. The house had everything we needed to cook meals and to be comfortable.
We love the front porch.
We stayed in order to access Twin Lakes for ice fishing. The location was stunning and perfect for access to both lakes.
The home was very comfortable for my husband and I. We appreciated the King bed and wood stove at the end of the day
Lisa had everything we needed and more. The location was walking distance to everything in Twin Lakes. We enjoyed having the recliners in the family room and the cozy kitchen where we prepared several meals.
Had never heard of Twin Lakes before spending the weekend in this delightful space. Wonderful way to meet some new mountains and see an unspoiled bit of Colorado history. Love the front porch in the morning and evening!

Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Misrepresented Property – Serious Cleanliness and Maintenance ConcernsWe were very excited for our family trip to Twin Lakes, but unfortunately this rental was not as advertised. While we understood it was an older 1880 bungalow, the condition of the home went far beyond “historic charm.” It had not been properly cleaned or maintained for quite some time.Upon arrival, we found mouse droppings in the kitchen area, a stagnant bucket under the bathroom sink, a dirty ring around the toilet, and a shower that had to be cleaned before it could be used. The dishwasher, stove, washer, and light switches were visibly dirty. There was thick dust on surfaces, cobwebs with clumps of pet hair, and grime in the table crevices. The bedding had an odor, and the mattress cover in our room had a large stain. We had to wash and clean extensively before we could use basic amenities. We also received several contradictory instructions from the property manager regarding trash, bedding, and house rules, which added unnecessary confusion. We were especially concerned about safety and cleanliness for our five year old great nephew. When he turned on the overhead fan, a significant amount of dust and debris fell from it, causing him to cough. The areas under the beds, where children naturally hide and play, were extremely dirty. This made it difficult for him to safely enjoy the space and took away from the family time we had planned. This home has a 9.8 rating, but our experience did not r

Response from VrboOwner on 18 Feb 2026
This guest was looking to get a deal. We get one of these people once a year that will sit and complain about everything when we have received five stars consecutively for years now. Please go ahead and review all other people's statements. This client basically wanted a full refund when the house was totally up to par. Vrbo also was in accordance with us and did not give her a discount. Thank you
This is a cute, clean property. It was easy to find directions from Google Maps.
We stayed here overnight before climbing Mt. Elbert, which the South trailhead was just a 7-minute drive from the house.
The host was very responsive to my questions and I was all set when I got there. I recommend this place.
I was very happy with my solo stay at this historic home. It had everything I needed -- especially good wifi for work. The house sleeps four and has one bathroom. Staying alone, I was obviously fine. Loved the location. If I had one suggestion, it would be brighter light bulbs in the kitchen, but that's obviously minor. Easy process and great stay - highly recommend!
Booked the bungalow for a father/son fishing trip. Lisa was patient answering my questions and provided us some great local tips. Dinner at the Surf Hotel was amazing and a nice refuge from cooking trout every night!
The house was clean and well appointed with everything we needed. I highly recommend this property for anyone wanting to explore the Twin Lakes area.

Why they chose this property
The village at Twin Lakes grew in popularity once gold was discovered in the area, with commerce centered there for area miners. In the 1860s, the area, then known as Dayton, became the county seat. When gold was discovered on Independence Pass, a toll road was established between Leadville and Aspen, making Twin Lakes the transportation hub between the two towns. After the silver boom in Leadville in 1878 to 1879, Twin Lakes became a popular summer resort, attracting the wealthy. For a more detailed look at Twin Lake’s history, follow this historic walking tour, which highlights some of the town’s original buildings.
What makes this property unique
Interlaken Resort, located on the south side of Twin Lakes, was considered Colorado’s most beautiful resort in the late 19th century. Built in 1879 and expanded after James V. Dexter bought it in 1883, it had some of the best facilities for the time and was a popular stop for those who traveled to nearby mining towns, like Aspen and Leadville. Guests came to ride horses, fish, hunt, and cruise along the lakes in steam-powered boats. They stayed in the hotel or the hotel annex and relaxed in the tavern or pool hall.
