Gorgeous Oceanfront Beach House, Walk to Beach, DEL MAR / SOLANA BEACH

Location, location, location! Perched on the cliff overlooking Fletcher Cove, this newly remodeled home has a unique panoramic view of the Solana Beach community main beach, the coast line, and the ocean, right above a surfers spot. The Del Mar Racetrack is a mere 8 minute drive, Belly up and Cedros Design District are a 5 minute walk.

Our family has been coming together here for over 20 years to spend activity-filled summers, to celebrate special occasions, to relax and recharge, or just to watch the beautiful and ever-changing California sunsets.

This is an amazing place to spend your time, and particularly the summers, since the house is 10 minutes away from the Del Mar Racetrack (racetrack season is July-Sept), the beloved Del Mar Fair (May 31-July4), and so many beautiful nearby beaches (open year round).

If you're not catching a glimpse of dolphins or whales from the expansive garden/terrace backyard, a 60 second walk will leave you toes-deep in the Fletcher Cove Beach sand. We're situated 100 feet from the Fletcher Cove ramp, and 200 feet from the stairway to the more secluded Tide Cove. When you're back from the beach, an exterior shower awaits so you can indulge in a splash of fresh water after your salty ocean dip.

Completely remodeled in 2018, there are stone and wood floors throughout this sprawling 4 bed/4 bath home. Four of the five bedrooms have private terraces, and 3 of those bedrooms have ocean views. One of the bedrooms will be used as storage space for the owners, which is why we updated the listing to mention 4 bedrooms instead of 5. The spacious interiors include a gourmet kitchen, an open dining room, a TV room and a living room. If you're looking to spend your time outdoors, a large patio and grassy backyard await on the edge of the ocean.

What we most like about the house is that you can be a big group and co-exist, but it never feels crowded. The property boasts a very expansive private entertainment backyard, with plenty of shaded areas and a constant ocean breeze. The space has a built-in lounging couch with a gas fire pit, a 10-person dining table, and lounge chairs, and the large pad of grass makes this backyard the perfect space to stay away from the crowd.

But if you want to venture out, the house is also walking distance from the Solana Beach Amtrak train station, and dozens of cafes, restaurants, yoga studios, organic juice/food places, the Cedros design district, shopping, and of course, the beach. The list does goes on - in fact, ask us and we'll happily send you our list!

The house has the best of both worlds - it's laidback like a vacation home, but is also a custom-built designer home. It looks like it belongs in a magazine, but it's also incredibly comfy, inviting, and well-thought-out.

If you enjoy cooking, or have friends that can cook for you, our fully equipped gourmet kitchen will dazzle you:
2 Dacor ovens, 2 Thermador warming drawers, a brand new Bosch dishwasher, a Subzero refrigerator, and 2 sinks.

We love to play music, especially while we're cooking, so the house is setup with Sonos in all the common areas and also outdoors. Each of the bedrooms has its own TV, and all of the bathrooms have floor-heating systems.

The TV room has a giant 65-inch LED TV and is ideal for movie nights (or simply marathon-watching your favorite episodic TV).

Fantastic vacation home

The home is absolutely beautiful and the location is amazing- short walk to the beach. Perfect for a family and adults to share. Huge kitchen that was well used by a professional chef, beautiful space for family meals. We hope to rent there again.

A unique gem

From the photos on line I knew the location of the property and the views were amazing. The truly wonderful surprise was to find the incredible unique eclectic décor on the inside. The art, the unique furnishings were so great and so well done. We immediately felt comfortable and relaxed which made the stay just perfect.

The Most Amazing Beach House

I’ve stayed in luxury homes all over the world and can say unequivocally that this home is one of the great gems anywhere in San Diego. Perched above a pristine beach, with unobstructed views, and walking distance to EVERYTHING—this is the only house you should consider if coming to the area. It’s decorated impeccably and equipped with everything you could imagine. The proximity to the beach, restaurants, cafes, and biking trails makes this house simply incredible. I felt like I was in Spain or Portugal. A dream home with dream views and dream beach. Simply can’t be beat. Rent this house if you can, before I buy it!

Peace and quiet with ocean waves

We have stayed in approximately 70 destinations over the last 15 years. This home ranks in the top five of them all. There were MAJOR problems with the alarm system and the HVAC upon arrival which potentially could have ruined our 11 days there. However Pao responded (with her workers) with great speed and concern. All problems were quickly fixed and our stay was exceptionally good. We cannot recommend this home more enthusiastically.

a wonderful week

We traveled with our family of 7 to this beautiful home set atop a gorgeous beach this past week. The house is perfectly located right next to the entrance to the public beach. The beach and nearby tide pools are amazing. The house is clean, comfortable and very homey. We cooked most of our meals due to the pandemic and the kitchen has everything. The outside space is spectacular with loads of seating and a huge table to seat everyone for meals. We would love to return!

San Diego Getaway

Property is phenomenal….furnishings/design/decor first class and very eclectic! And the views…..off the chart!!!! Plus so many extras…bikes, wetsuits, SUP’s, boogie boards, and the beach just a few steps away….what was really special and surprising for our group was how quaint Solana Beach is….Plenty of restaurants, coffee, and cool shops all within walking distance….away from the crowds of San Diego but so easy to zip downtown, Torrey Pines, Delmar, etc. Hosts Pao and Alessandra could not have been more hospitable, welcoming and easy to work with….FIVE STARS FOR EVERYTHING!

Wonderful Home - Loud Remodel Next Door Caused Weekday Issues

Everything was as presented with the home itself. Amazing sunsets, supplied with everything you could think of, and convenient to the beach and dining options. Very clean and modern. Only issue keeping this from a 5-star stay, was there was an undisclosed "to the studs" remodel going on right next door. During 4 of our 7 day stays, the noise from the remodeling began as early as 7 AM. This noise was very loud and very persistent and forced us to re-arrange sleeping arrangements multiple times. And the remodel home was on both levels and literally just a few feet from all of the windows on our home. It was very inconvenient, intrusive, and we must say, had it been disclosed, which it should have been at this price of a home, we would have likely looked at other beach rental options.

Fabulous House and Viewpoint on Solana Beach

My husband and I spent 6 wonderful nights here with 5 family members. The house sits upon a beautiful bluff above Solana Beach where we watched great sunsets every night and observed numerous surfers ride on gentle waves. The beach is great for long walks, runs, or diving in for water sports. We felt so lucky to be able to chill out here over the New Years Holiday. The house itself is charmingly decorated and the kitchen was well organized. There was also a large gas grill outside which we made good use of. The owner, Alessandra, met us at the property when we arrived and made sure we knew where everything was situated and how everything worked. She made us feel very welcome like we were old friends. She was also available for questions and suggestions on where to go and what restaurants to try. But ultimately, the view from the backyard looking down to the beach is so spectacular, we never really felt the need to venture very far from the property! We sat there for hours watching all the beach activity from a comfortable and peaceful distance that provided endless entertainment, natural beauty and relaxation. I hope we can stay here again. Gorgeous beach house for those who are looking for a getaway

We were looking for a change of scenery during Covid and this house did not disappoint. On a cliff overlooking the ocean, this house is decorated beautifully, both inside and out! Whether you sit in the 2 person swing or on the chaise lounges on the mini backyard beach, you cannot help but relax. The owners have exquisite taste in decor. It is beautifully appointed and every day we found another piece of art that we wished we could take home with us. We had a couple of hiccups related to technology during our stay and were very impressed with how quickly Alessandra responded. We felt very taken care of and cannot wait to go back again.

Heaven on Earth

This is by far the nicest VRBO house we ever rented. There was plenty of room for 7 of us to spread out and relax. The kitchen had every conceivable item you could ever need, And did I mention the view? I could have sat in the back yard looking at the beach for hours (oh yeah, I did that!). This house is worth every penny of the rental fee. While the damage deposit may seem high, this house has beautiful south american antiques, paintings, statues and musical instruments. They are gorgeous. This is no ordinary rental home. I can't wait to come back.

This vacation was one of the most memorable ones we have had as a family. This house is gorgeous, very well stocked and very clean. The property managers were extremely helpful throughout our whole experience (from reservations, checking in and checking out). It was a last minute reservation and we are now looking forward to coming back again. Besides the beautiful home you can't beat the location. Worth every penny. Thank you so much!

Stunning property! We loved our coffee every morning with the ocean views. Every night we made dinner and listened to any playlist we wanted over Spotify and their sound system.! Perfect position to the beach, especially with kids. Would highly recommend it and would love to return again !

From the start of my first email regarding the possibility of renting the home, the owners were fast to respond and answered every question in detail and were so lovely. I am always skeptical of photos of homes on VRBO or in real estate in general. I have to tell everyone , what you see is what you get!! The most beautiful home, with the most amazing views, super clean and beautifully decorated. The owners go above and beyond and I will be staying there again for sure. I can go on and on about the owners, the home, the view, the service .... EVERYTHING was BETTER than listed. The location and sunrises and sunsets were unbeatable. Special homes exude a certain sweet atmosphere. The designers of this home created a product that me and my family love. The sum of the parts of this home is even greater than the amazing parts themselves (Pacific oceanfront location, clifftop views, surfing proximity, designer finishings, engaging art, gourmet kitchen, sauna, whole-house Sonos, the list goes on). I recently stayed here for a week. It was me, my soulmate, my three sons, and their friends, eight of us in total. We arrived thinking we would stay at this home and also take adventures into San Diego and the surrounding area. Basically, we stayed at the home the whole week. It was big enough for us to get our privacy when needed and cozy enough that we interacted a lot. Nobody wanted to leave. Whatever I write here will not do justice to this home or its wonderful hosts. It was one of the best trips of my life. Enjoy!

Hello! My name is Pao and I'm a French-Mexican living in New York City since 2006. I spent some of my childhood years in Southern California, where my parents now reside, and I speak English, Spanish and French.

Why they chose this property

Our family spent 7 incredible years in Southern California during my childhood, so once all of the kids graduated from high school (in Brussels!) my parents were ready to move out of gray, rainy Belgium and back to beautiful, sunny California. This was the home we lived in right before we moved away to Belgium, and therefore was also the home we came back to spend summers at every year.
Although it has undergone 2 renovations since we originally moved in, this place is home to many wonderful memories. It's where we celebrated so many of our birthdays, where we brought together so many of our friends from afar, and where we always come together as a family.

What makes this property unique

Where to start?! Location, location, location! If you're not looking out over the ocean, you may as well be walking on the beach. Since the house is up on the bluff, you get all the perks of a beachfront property, without having to deal with the beach crowds. You're close to so many restaurants, shops, grocery stores, etc. but the house is built in a way where you feel complete privacy and serenity.
